View Full Version : Defective RMA Replacements

I have been having no luck with my drum replacements. My purchased set of drums are I believe the QM's and after a week of use I found that the top 1/4 of the red pad just doesn't register any hits so I requested an RMA.

The RMA ones came in and they were EL's and one of the drum stick holders above the yellow pad was loose and just flopped around in the hole but no worries. I started playing on the EL's and began to find when I would do double hits (R+Y) (Y+B) (Y+G) quite often the yellow would not register and sure enough a week later the yellow stopped working altogether, (my guess is a wire was coming loose and finally did). I request another RMA.

Third set came in and they were also EL's. I began to use them and I can say I not the greatest drummer for sure but I do play some songs fairly consistent and I could not get the yellow and sometimes the red to be consistent. I thought maybe there is a change each drum set might be a little different in timing so I try manual calibration and tested it over and over on all different timings and still found the same results. I then thought I will try them in practice and 50% and sure enough ever couple of yellow beats I could see that the yellow hit as just not registering.

I guess I am going to have to request another RMA. I have kept my original QM set through all this because they work other then the top half of the red and I have been sending the replacements back ever time. I am not a great drummer and I don't beat the crap out of the sets in fact if you looked at every set I have had you would barley be able to tell they have been used.

Try running through the "My drum's don't work" section.

It sounds like you've had a combo of problems, which is unfortunate. I do think your calibration may still be off though.

Thanks for the reply Project_Mercy,

I will give it a try over the weekend. I must say though I set my orginal drums up again and without changing any calibrations settings they are perfect except only 3/4 of the red pad registers.

It's hard to say without being there with you, but people have a tendency to manually calibrate themselves to certain environments and lag, so when that changes, even if it's for the better, they think it's wrong.

I'll definitely be pretty happy when RB2 comes out with the auto-calibration features (assuming it works correctly). I think it'll improve people's game a lot once they get the hang of adjusting to it.

Correct me if I am wrong.

When I went into practice mode and was testing my yellow pad, when the hit did not registry I was assuming this was a hardware issue because the yellow bumper on the screen did not bounce. This tells me that the sensor isn't picking up the hit.

If you were in a free-form mode, this is correct, assuming you were hitting it with the correct velocity. ELs require a firmer rap, QMs and SLs are oversensitive and hitting it too hard will cause them to not register.

But for the most part, yes.

Thanks again for the quick replies. I was hitting it very consistently as the notes were only coming one every second I had lots of time to focus on what I was testing. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something that could have been the problem but it really does sound like the pad was manufacturing.
