How many people are going to play Rock Band with the Wife? My wife hates video games she would only play Miss Pac Man and frogger. (showing my age) I then bought GHIII and she is hooked on the game. She is excited about Rock Band now that it has drums and a Mic she loves to sing. I love these games because I was able to get my wife who hated video games to now play with me and she loves them. Has anyone else had this same experience? We can't wait to play BWT together, and unlock songs and see how many fans we can get. Maybe Rock Band will be credited with saving a Marriage or two :D

My wife loves GH and we play it quite a bit. She's about as excited as I am for RB too.

I wish. I've tried and tried and tried to get her to play GH II & III, but no dice.

Videogames aren't her thing. I'm cool with that because she doesn't care if I play them and she actively enables my habit by buying me games when she is out shopping.

Oh well.

Yeah, Same here my wife doesn't hate video games but has no interest in playing Halo or Gears or any sort of "Needs a lot of buttons" type games. But she started playing Guitar Hero 2 with me when I got it and she now plays on Expert and even took 5th in a local tournament of about 35 people (I got 3rd:cool: )

So yes she can't wait and we even jammed for like and hour on the Rock Band demo at Wal-Mart and had an entire crowd around us....Can't wait for this game we will always be playing it.

My wife is gonna play. She fell in love with GH and though she is not an expert player by any means, she loves the game. She would never in a million years visit a game site, but is a bit of a gamer. After playing the RB demo at BB she said "Oh, we are getting this. When does it come out?"

I had a C64 when I met her (who's showing their age now?? LOL) and played a bit of Maniac Mansion. That got her in to games. Over the years she would find a favorite and play the hell out of it. Some past games that have hooked her include-

Maniac Mansion
EPYX "Games" series
Fantavision
The Sims
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Champions: Return to Arms
Everquest Online Adventure
World Of Warcraft

and current favorites
Guitar Hero series
Civilization 4

My wife likes video games, but doesn't like Guitar Hero type games. However, she has assured me that she will play the bass in Rock Band. She actually just likes to watch me play most of the time.

Up until recently the only games my wife would play were the original Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario Brothers 3 (both of which she is exceptional at). I had to work the angles for months to convince her that I should get a 360.

Well she finally conceded, I got the 360 and GH3, and now we both play it together and have a great time. She is also excited for Rock Band (not as much as me obviously) but can't wait for me and the guys to make total fools of ourselves in our basement.

We are both looking forward to spending her thanksgiving break from college together playing band world tour. Even tho im on expert and will totaly show her up.

My wife likes some videogames (mostly RPGs.. she wants Zelda for our Wii). I tried to get her into Guitar Hero on my PS2, but she didn't really like to play (she's not that great at it). She does like to sing though. We ended up buying Karaoke Revolution presents American Idol, and she likes that. So I hope she'll sing on RB.

The only issue is there are songs she will not want to sing (i.e. Iron Maiden). So I don't see us doing any type of career together.

It's funny, my wife is actually excited about RB too. She loves to sing, so that is the part she will be doing. I tried to get her to play GH, and she did a few times, but didn't get into it.

We will have a reversed White Stripes band going were I will be playing drums and she will be singing. :D

Here, here! Down with the Cyclops!

My wife really only plays Spider Solitaire. She's an enabler and buys me game but then doesn't like that I spend time playing said games. She's actually fairly good at GH, and I think deep down, enjoys it. I'm hoping that with RB, she'll finally warm up to gaming and I'll have access to BWT.

I've made sure I'm as repellent as possible to women over the last few months so I wouldn't be in a relationship when Rock Band came out to avoid any problems with significant others. I may die unloved and alone, but I think it's worth it.

I am worried about how my mom's eyes lit up when I told her the Rock Band had drums though. I may have to start looking into nursing homes.

Yah, my wife enjoys some GH, she can play on medium, I figure she'll probably be up for playing guitar or bass for some BWT, I just don't know if she'll want to stick w/ it long enough to complete the thing though. I hope so. I think it'll give me a good chance to learn drums at least.

Since my wife is better at GH than I am (she plays Expert; I still have yet to beat GH3 on Hard), she's definitely interested. We'll be playing a lot together, and since we have a pair of good local friends who also enjoy GH (but only play casually), we'll be able to make a 4-player band on a regular basis. :)

My wife plays, but not often; usually when she has friends over. She is more into the cutesy games like Meet the Robinsons, Ratchet and Clank, and Super Paper Mario (yes, I bought her a Wii). She is excited about Rock Band though, so much that while we were at the Majestic Theater last Saturday to see STOMP, they were selling souvenir drum sticks, and she bought a set so she could have her own drumsticks. :)

My wife played every GH game, and is quite more excited about Rock Band, although I will be fighting her for the drums at first. She's a casual GH player, likes medium, but can handle hard if need be. However, we don't usually get through more than 2 songs in a row now with the baby. She doesn't generally care for many other games, the 3d worlds tend to give her a headache, or so she says. She used to like Dr. Mario and Donkey Kong Country a lot though.

My wife loved GH1, and could play "Texas Flood" on expert! She liked GH2 because you could play on different difficulties in multiplayer, but I don't think she liked the songs as much.

I told her about Rock Band, and now she totally wants to try the drums! I guess we're gonna have to do some rock-paper-scissors to see who gets to play what!

I made a thread about more female songs in the setleast forum.

I do think there should be more.

I put this there, but I'll put it here, too -

I think it's a valid point (although my girlfriend is goign to kick ass at Iron Maiden vocals) but we don't want to get the game bogged down in wimpy karaoke standards. So, here's some suggestions for songs with female vocals that the less rawk-inclined ladies could sing that don't totally suck:

Carly Simon - You're So Vain
Awesome bass intro, Mick Jagger on back-up vocals, cowbell, great drum build-up to the chorus and it actually has a pretty decent guitar solo.
YouTube (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DWQREs4f_oE)

Patti Smith - Gloria
One of the greatest of her works - second only to that song with the title that'll get you banned from the forum - but Patti's deconstructed reworking of the Van Morrison's classic is awesome - great vocals, pounding drums, huge build-up great interplay between the guitar and drums.
YouTube (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7mIsN2JHPds)

Neko Case - Hold On, Hold On
Great picked guitar intro, awesome Mark Knopfler-inspired lead electric guitar, kickass lyrics, smoking guitar solo (better on the album that in this live version), decent drums. Also, she's an amazing vocalist. Also, check out that gorgeous Gibson SG:
YouTube (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=50dzxkJa1NE)

PJ Harvey - 50 Ft Queenie
just incredibly awesome - wicked bass intro, huge guitars and drums - this is such a kickass song, and the lyrics would be really fun both genders:

My wife's already stated that she'll be the band's 'groupie', but I imagine she'll also try her hand at bass. She's played a bit of Guitar Hero, though I'm pretty sure she isn't as hardcore about Rock Band as I am.
