View Full Version : Question About Going "On Tour" ...

This question isn't necessarily limited to Rock Band, but I didn't know where else to put this thread.
Anyway, by "On Tour" I mean "taking my saved bands back and forth between my dorm room/house (on breaks) or friends' houses/dorms". I know there is a Memory Unit thing for the 360, but I'd prefer not to spend $50 on the privilege of taking my data with me (seriously, Microsoft... WTF?). Is there an easy way to bring my saved game with me? I know that you can download DLC you've already paid for onto another console, but:
a) If I signed in on another Xbox would it access my saved game, or allow me to download my data to the second console? (I doubt this is possible)
b) Could I just take my hard drive and put it on the other console? (more likely)
c) Can I use a normal USB memory stick? (probably not, or why would they have the memory card?)
Obviously I can just bring my own Xbox with me, but it seems like there's got to be an easier way.

You can use your hard drive as a giant portable memory card. It will bring 100% of your data with you and you can use XBL on another console if connected. Basically whatever 360 has your hard drive is your 360.

not true, whatever your hard drive is on does ACT as your 360 to a POINT.
Downloaded content that was payed for is registered to the serial number of the console it was originally downloaded too (hopefully YOUR console) so, while the data is ON your hardrive, its only accesible via the console it was originally attached too. if u wanna use all ur dlc, bring ur 360, thats the only option

The memory unit IS the 360. The serial number is FOR THE HARDRIVE.

Close....If you are signed into your XBL account you should be able to acces your DLC on the other person's console with your HD attached.

qft...I tried to bring my HD for my Xbox 360 to my sister's house and play on her 360 by switching HDs, but I couldn't get any of my downloaded content (even though I can access it on my Xbox 360 when I'm not on XBL)....so lame!

Did you try logging on to live with your gamertag while you were at your sister's? I've never personally tried it, but DLC is supposed to be tied to the gamertag as well as the console. You should even be able to redownload the DLC to another machine with your gamertag, although it would then be unaccessable on that machine when you weren't on live.
