Ouch, that sucks. Your Xbox will live on in our hearts forever.:o
Kind of
But not really.
Oh well, I hope your new one never RROD's. Good luck.
I was thinkin about getting the Elite as well.
Is it really that much better than the standard version? My friend claims it to be nearly "bulletproof".

Well, my one seems to be holding up pretty well against the original release --doesn't seem to feel as hot.
Mind you, as for the second bit, I haven't tried shooting it yet :D

It should be. I mean, it's not called the ELITE without reason.
So you can't send it in for a refurb? I don't think you have to be in warranty to do that. (I could be wrong though,) It would probably save you like, $200.:D
I don't think it's fixable, actually.
Took two months to fix my xbox when it wasn't reading discs. If I send it in, I probably won't get it back in time for RB2.

Ooh, that's a good point. I never thought of that.
RB2 or $200?..............................
That's a toughie, but I'd probably go with RB2.

My apologies to you my man. But I might I ask a ? Where did you purchase your box? See I'm on my sixth in 23 months and because I bought it at store which will honor MS' three-year on that pesky RROD I just go there and switch out. Check into that, just call and ask if they honor manufacturer warranties, just don't say it's your Box until you get there. You'll get a more honest answer. Good Luck :)

I avoid using those four words in that order around my baby. She's almost a year old with no RDRO yet.

Not meant to start a flame war or anything, but I'm curious as to why some users constantly return to the 360 after 3, 4, 5, 6, 7+ RRoDs. If my PS3, computer, vacuum cleaner, blender, or chair broke that much, I wouldn't keep buying the same product. I'd milk some warranty for repairs, but cut my losses after that. I understand you've probably spent a few hundred more on games, but if you keep sinking hundreds into new consoles, you ultimately lose more.

They probably had a collection of 360 games that would be useless if they switched consoles.
Although I have wondered that same exact question many times before. that's the best answer I can come up with.

You can keep sending it back to get it fixed for free for up to 3 years after purchase (for RROD).
