View Full Version : Star Power for GH: WT Drums?

I know I should probably ask this on a Guitar Hero forum, but from what I've heard, those guys can be pretty hostile towards someone who's pro-Rock Band, so I thought I'd ask here where I'd get intelligent answers/discussion.

From what I've read, star power's gonna be activated by hitting both cymbals on the drums. I don't really get how that would work. Wouldn't that mean you'd have to activate it when there's hardly any notes coming up to avoid breaking combo? And wouldn't it also mean that you won't get the most out of it since the optimal time to use star power/overdrive in these games is when there's a lot of notes?

And if all of this is right, how are people like me who plan on using the RB2 drums in GH: WT (assuming we actually decide to get it) gonna activate star power using the RB2 drums?

I've actually been wodering this myself for a while, how are the people with a RB drumkit going to activate SP..... I'm curious as well.

With the GH drums, you hit both cymbals and you don't break your note streak.

You mean blue and green pads? What happens when there are sections of the song that require blue and green pad hits?

Dude that is weird. I think I'm just going to buy a GHWT disc and use my RB2 guitar for it. I may try vox a little, but I don't think that the drums' compatibility is going to be as great as people think (or originally thought, anyways).

Really? So if there was a song with a Train Kept a Rollin-like drumroll and I wanted to activate SP during that, I could just stop hitting them, hit the cymbals to activate SP, and just go back to it without the note streak being broken? Because the way I see it, I still missed at least a small part of that drumroll since I stopped to activate SP. If this is true okay, but I still don't really understand how it would work.

i believe that once you hit both the yellow and orange cymbals, the impending notes blank out and you are able to do a bit of freestyling, your combo remaining unbroken.

I think that's exactly what they plan on doing, but I'm not so sure of it myself. How does it work on RB? (I don't play drums)

Edit: Ooh, what MrGlass said might just work..................

In RB, there are "drum fills" throughout the song. When they come up, just hit some pads, and finish with the green pad.

In Rock Band, once you obtain enough energy, fills appear in the song at certain points. At the end of the fill, if you hit your crash (green) you'll activate your overdrive.

K that makes sense, but it only tells me what'll happen after we activate SP. What about before that? When we break away from the song to activate it, will we have to move incredibly fast to activate it, or will the game ignore any notes that we may miss a second or two before SP activation?

Why don't they do that in GH then? Why mess with something that apparently works?

Edit: reffering to what Mystlyfe77 and instantdeath999 said.

Yeah, that's something I've wanted to know for a while too lol. I guess they're just trying to make it so that drummers and singer have more freedom with their energy like guitar/bass players have.

Probably. That and they don't want to seem like they're copying RB too much. God knows they get enough grief for that already.

200th post FTW!!!!!!!

I heard that after you hit both cymbals, there is a drum fill that gets you back into the note chart.

Still does not make sense to me. :(
