No. That was the software automaticly playing the notes for demo purposes. The actually game will either alert us the bass pedal is not connected, or you'll just miss all the bass notes.

Is it even possible to not connect the bass drum? I figured the whole drum set-up would have one wire, meaning if you connect drums, the pads and kick drum would all be connected together.

The bass pedal connects to the drum kit. The drum kit connects to the console.

I imagine that it won't even let you play without the pedal plugged in. You'd probably get an on-screen message telling you that your drums aren't plugged in properly or something.

Indeed, that would be like having a cheat that made it so you didn't have to play the orange button. What's the fun in that? Just set the game to Easy or Medium and work your way up.

To clarify, you can definitely unplug the bass pedal (yay portability!) in the final revision. Like others have said, no, it will not autoplay.
