Solo vs multi player

We are using the Wii platform. We are trying to use the game in either guitar or drum solo player mode but we receive a message that the microphone must be plugged in. It appears that the game is forcing us to use the vocal option. Any suggestions how to correct for this? Thx

Navigate the menus with whichever instrument you wish to play solo. Don't try to pick Solo Tour with the Wiimote unless you want to play a vocalist.
