Guitars on Rockband

Okay, I know what your thinking, another guitar compatibility question. Not exactly. Harmonix has said that the guitar hero controllers will work on rockband. I understand that. I also understand you will not have the five extra frets and effects switch. But unless I missed it, I still don't get how I'm going to plug my ps2 guitar into my ps3? Is an adapter coming out? And I don't mean one like that pelican piece of junk. The reason I ask is because I want to be able to have a dedicated bass guitar along with my bundle especially for launch week. So if there is an adapter or is going to be one can someone from Harmonix shine a little light on the subject please? I hope I don't have to buy gh3 for the ps3 (cuz it sucks as far as I'm concerned) or wait until February for another guitar. If this has already been answered can someone please show me where? Thanks for the time.

I doubt you will see an official adapter but one of the cheap ps2 2 ps3 adapters should work

There are some ps2 to ps3 adapters that work. Some don't. I have a friend that has one that works fine. I'll try to find out which one she has!

This is the pelican adapter. See my original post. It doesn't work. No whammy support and the ho/po's don't work either. It is completely worthless.

Didn't they say that it uses the same dongle that the PS3 uses that plugs into a USB port? Essentially, then, the guitars are the same.

The RB guitars, yes. The original GH 1 and 2 Gibson SG's are not wireless.

I'm pretty sure they meant that GH controllers from the same system would work on RB. So GH3 controller on PS3 will work for PS3 RB, GH1 and 2 controllers on PS2 will work with RB PS2 and GH2 and 3 controllers on 360 will work for RB 360. I think it's highly unlikely that PS2 GH controllers will work for RB on PS3. Maybe with the right adapter, but don't get your hopes up.

This isn't entirely true. The whammy bar, star power, and hammer-ons/pull-offs work perfectly with that adapter for GH1. They don't work for GH2 and the 80s.

Now this is purely speculation, but I would assume that they don't work because of the restrictions that RO put on the controllers (many third party controllers for GH1 didn't work for GH2.) There is a chance they they will work flawlessly for RB.

I currently have one of these adapters, so come Tuesday (when I pick it up after work), I will try it out and post here if my adapter allows me to use a PS2 guitar for Rock Band.

I asked Sean about this a week ago. He said that nobody their had these adapters (why would they, they have thousands of guitars). I will try it out as soon as I turn on the game Tuesday Evening.

Last I read in here the other day was that the GH3 guitar for PS3 would NOT work with Rock Band!!
