Hip hop artists/songs?

I know it sounds stupid, but I think some hip hop songs and artists would be cool to download. I'm not talking about rap or any of that bs you guys are thinking, but some Run DMC, Jay-Z/Linkin Park, and others that have some good guitar and drums. Did anyone watch the MTV VMAs this year? Remember when the Foo Fighters played with Ceelo and Fall Out Boy played with Lil' Wayne. Getting that on Rock Band would be AMAZINGGGGGGGGG. Gawd I can't wait for the day we can upload any of our own songs. That would be killer! :D

I HATE rap,lol but really I can't stand it. So I voted NO, I say it's called ROCK band and you know later all kinds of rap/hiphop guitar hero and rockband clones will be made, so rock ppl have theirs and rap/hiphop/ dance ppl will have theirs. I think I remember activision or redoctane trade marked hiphop hero or something like that.

And... about MTV putting rap and rock bands together, I think that was stupid. I think they only do that because they aren't geared toward rock music anymore and that was MTV's cheap ploy to try and bring in the rock crowd (coincidently, the music that MADE mtv) since if you want to see a rock video mtv is out.

Seriously, was not expecting all the flames from everyone. I mean, I do love hip hop, but I also love rock. I've grown up on Segar, Clapton, Zep, and Walsh. But I do have a variety of music that I have a passion for. And, being that this is ROCK Band, I believe any and every song that has rock roots should have the option of being in the game.

Also, rgp, I think your comment is more aimed toward your dislike of MTV and not the question I had. And the comment about how mtv has put rock and rap together was without thought. Don't forget back in 86, two years after MTV was on the air, how Aerosmith and DMC remade "Walk This Way." That was epic, and would be awesome to play!

I do like Rage though but if they started putting 50, M&M and jay z in I'd be pissed.

I have to agree with the OP. Plain hip-hop songs probably won't make their way onto rock band, but rock songs with rap elements (or rap songs with rock elements) could definitely appear as DLC. 'Walk this Way' would be fantastic, and some songs by the Gorillaz, Gym Class Heroes, and similar bands would probably be welcomed by fans of the genre.

Gorillaz would be sweet! I never really thought about them. Same with Gym Class Heroes. They would definately fulfill my sweet tooth :D

Yes Gorillaz would be great. Most pre 1990 hip hop would be good to be honest but only stuff with guitars in which is hard to find (Run DMC + Public Enemy are the only great examples I can think of).

I'm a big fan of rap (as well as almost any genre of music), but I do think it would be hard to find songs with parts for everyone. Off the top of my head, some good RB rap songs could be:

"Tougher Than Leather"--Run DMC (or pretty much any Run)
"Fit But You Know It"--The Streets feat. The Futureheads
"Shake It Off"--Bomani Armah
"Let's Go"--Trick Daddy (You know, the one that sampled "Crazy Train" :D )

While I'm no huge fan of Gym Class Heroes I think at least one of their songs could fit well here to.....as well as almost anything from the Legendary Roots Crew....cmon, people...I understand not wanting to saturate such a precious gem as Rock Band with crappy music as so much of today's Hip-Hop is, but there are still obvious quality music acts that come from the hip-hop genre that could work here as well. Don't write off the whole genre just because of the junk that blasts through radios nation wide on a daily basis.....speaking of which, how the hell did FOB get on the set list???


Oh yeah and there should also be some old school funk/motown/soul music on here...they're amazing bands and songs in that genre that would be perfect for this kinda game.

Needs some Jock Rock, stuff like C&C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat" and Technotronic's "Pump Up the Jam." Maybe even "Jump Around" but thats just dated :p

But what am I voting for if I vote yes? "Yes you are crazy and this should not be in the game" or "Yes, you are absolutely correct, this should be in the game". I'm just afraid the devs will just read the poll results "Hmm, 99% of these voters voted yes on the hip hop thread."
