View Full Version : Can our created player switch instruments?

Is this possible during BWT and exhibition play? For example, some songs I will sing, some play drums, guitar, etc. Will we have the option to change our characters role while on screen? I think it would be cool to actually see my created self corresponding to what I was actually playing. Also will we be able to use our created selves in exhibition mode in general? That would be cool.

Created characters can be used in any mode, so the same character can be used in BWT, solo, and quickplay. Characters are tied to an instrument, and get instrument-specific accessories.

Bakkster is right.

I think it works out well in the current incantation though because it gives you an excuse to use the character builder multiple times... giving you more chances to play with the outfits, tatoos, hairstyles, etc.

I don't like that at all.

I would like to just have one character be able to play everything.

You can totally do that, you would just have to build the character 3 times in the builder (one for each instrument) and build them all to have an identical look.

So do the unlocked things go to the character, or the player profile?

Would I need different Xbox 360 profiles for different characters?

No, you can have a each instrument with a created character on your profile.

I think unlocks go to character, but you can have multiple characters and bands to a 360 profile.

As much as I want to unlock things quickly, I'm very excited to see the instrument-specific accessories.

Well, I think unlocks go to the profile. Hopefully, since there is no more work being done on the game (;) ) Chris or Dan T have plenty of free time to come in and clear this up... I could have sworn I read they unlock to the profile...

Items and Cash go to the character. Unlocked Songs and Venues are tied to your gamer profile. So as long as your profile has unlocked it, you can play anywhere/anything during quickplay. But your fancy hat for your drummer stays on your drummer.

Here's a great blog to read about this stuff: http://community.rockband.com/index.php?do=/public/user/blogs/name_spraynwipe

And for an FAQ that answers your specific questions: http://community.rockband.com/index.php?do=/public/user/blogs/view/name_spraynwipe/id_567/

Hmm, let's light the Dev signal, see if they give us an answer :D

spork, you aren't a dev! How dare you provide useful information to settle an arguement?!?

Off topic, but one of those links shows the lag calibration setup, which looks promising. This is the first rhythm game I'll be playing on the HDTV/5.1 setup, so it's nice to know I should be able to remedy any lag issues.

The main concern I have with locking characters to a specific instrument is having to earn money and repurchase things for each one, since I'm not sure how extensively I'll be able to play BWT. If there's a way to grind out more money in the Solo Tours, though, I'm not as worried - I'm sure I'll be playing this plenty enough to earn scads of moneys.

No, but I like to close my eyes and pretend I am.

I actually only remember that particular blog because I was the one that submitted half those questions. I really was hoping to be able to switch instruments with 1 avatar, but I've resigned myself to the system as it works. It'll be fun going through the creation process 3 times if nothing else.

I'm pretty sure this was confirmed. I'll check a few blogs to see.
