Alright, I'm a bit concerned about how "album" purchasing works. Are you allowed to buy individual songs from the albums, or do you have to buy the "entire" album?
Because they're several songs I wanna purchase, such as "Smells like Teen Spirit" from Nirvana's album, and I don't want to end up buying the entire album.

You will always be allowed to download individual songs.

Wow. You don't want the rest of the album? But you want "Teen Spirit"?
I hope they put out some Creed or Nickleback for you soon.

He said there were several songs he wanted. Heaven forbid someone not like the same songs you do.

I'm getting so annoyed with people hating on other people's choice in music around here.

Agreed. Maybe he can't afford the whole album. Maybe he just doesn't like Territorial Pissings.

They can't help themselves. Music snobbery is older then any of us.

I'm right with you man. That's why I made this -> http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=6869
But no one votes!
People keep saying bands suck. It's probably cause they're better, more popular, or more success than them or something.
Appreciate the music, man.

I'll be interested to see what kind of discount you'll get for purchasing entire albums rather than individual tracks.

Going along with that, I wonder if I buy 10 individual songs, will I get a discount, similar to how if I bought an entire album.

Am I correct in saying there are GH3 DLC content comes in packs that must be gotten complete, not a la carte?

Not sure. That's stupid though.
Paska, I'm sure if you buy an entire album you get a slight discount. As for ten individual songs, not sure. It all depends on if it's ten songs from all different bands, or ten songs by one band. Then again, this isn't iTunes, so I'm not exactly sure. Doesn't seem like it would happen though, but this is all speculation.

This is true. The current packs out for GH3 (Velvet Revolver, Foo Fighters) must be bought as a three-pack for a retail price of $6.25.

That is correct for GH3. 3 song packs for $6.25, no other options, same as GH2.

The good news for everyone is that all of this will be put to rest in T minus a week once the game is out and the first wave of DLC hits. :D :)
And IMHO, the DLC is so good you won't want to a la carte purchase it. :)

Yes, you can get the pack, or not get the pack. There is no middle ground.

GH III DLC as of now comes in packs of 3, and songs cannot be bought individually. Which is a bit annoying.

Yea I'm not sure either, I would hope that buying in bulk, no matter what the songs are would allow you to gain some kind of discount. Although I'm not expecting too much. Being able to buy single or entire albums or packs of songs is nice enough.

Better yet would be an even larger discount if you just bought every DLC song that they put out each week. Sign me up for that! :)

Yea, don't expect entire albums or packs to be discounted either. It's not that it's unlikely, HMX seems very reasonable, but I always expect the worst. No I'm not pessimistic, it's actually an optimistic way of looking at it. If you don't expect it, and it doesn't happen, you get to say "I knew it", even though it's sort of a bummer. If you don't expect, and it does happen, you get say "SWEET! I didn't see that coming".

I think the licensing agreements they have wouldn't make this a feasible model. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

If they weren't discounted at least a small amount, there would be no reason to not just release everything individually only, no?

There is a reason; it is simple psychology. If people want a few songs, they are likely to buy the album without considering the cost advantage of buying the songs singly. ITunes does the same thing on a lot of their albums (and song lists). They charge full price and people buy the whole thing eitehr because they don't want to consider buying each song individually or because they want to try the whole thing. Either way, Itunes has sold X number of songs that they would not (or might not) have sold otherwise at full price. The same thought would have Harmonix do the same thing. I hope there is a discount on whole albums, but it wouldn't suprise me if it is not the case.
