View Full Version : Worst complaint ever?

Over the past few months, there have been a LOT of complaints from various people, many of them occurring multiple times. If there was only one that you could choose to never hear about again (or never heard in the first place), what would it be?

This was tough. It really was a draw between "song selection" and "double-bass pedal". I went with song selection, though I think there should have been a separate option for "NOT ENOUGH METAL  !!!1!1!!!!!"

Considering about 90% of the complaints about song selection were because of a lack of "teh metulz!", I figure we'll lump them together. ;)

Actually for me it was the American release date that made me sick to the stomach. I think we're all focused on Canadians at the moment, but it's us Americans that drove me the craziest. People flipping out over every little Gamestop rumor, people demanding HMX give us the release date as if they were raping some constitutional right. It was pretty aggravating.
Song selection is a pretty close second though.

Since I didn't see an option for our little disagreement yesterday I went with song selection. I'm so freaking tired of everyone breaking on the song selection and *****ing cause some weirdo goth or speed metal band that no one else has even heard of isn't in the game, then praying for it as DLC...

I hate when people say "Rock Band is too easy". First off, the game isn't even out yet so how would they know? Second, they make it sound like Harmonix is dumbing down the note charts for some reason. I don't get why people say this, and it bugs me.

I wrote about this in my RB review a little while back. They made Hard and Expert somewhat easier, but note missing is much less forgiving. You will fail out a lot quicker than in GH. BUT this was the demo review, the game could change. Again, DEMO review.

I'd have to say song selection. Between (a) people complaining that a band isn't in there, (b) people complaining that a band is in there, (c) people complaining that a band is in there but they wanted a better song from that band, (d) people complaining that a band is in there and they like the song from that band but it's one of the few songs that's not a master and they think the cover sucks, and (e) people complaining that too many songs are rahashes of the GH songlists, I'm really just tired of it.

I'm probably the one most guilty of whining about the lackluster songlist. But that's only because I was looking forward to playing a ROCK game with ROCK songs since the game is called ROCK BAND. The setlist isn't rock enough for me, but with the recent song DLC announcement my whining has been quelled.
Furthermore, I think my musical horizons stretch further than most. I like everything from Lamb Of God to Debbie Gibbson, The Dead Milkmen to Pink Floyd, The Carpenters, Avril Lavigne, MCR and tons of other stuff no one would have the guts to listen to, or admit they listen to because it's either too wussy or for some other dumb reason. I guess my opinion of what a rock band is (one that rocks) is totally different from those who chose the songs for the game's final setlist (chiefly those for the 90's and 2000's).

I'm mainly upset about the "Too Easy" one, it's not the point of the game. The point of the game is to have fun but be sort of challenging without lighting your fingers on fire just to pass a solo section, or sit in a practice mode for a month till you nail the song. And the "Song Selection" is a bit annoying as well, everyone thinks "Oh they only have 1 song I like... BOO F'N HOO. HMX isn't trying to please just 1 person.

I think "Double Bass Pedal" neatly encapsulates a bunch of these, because it implies the following:
* The game should be finger-breakingly difficult ("Game Too Easy")
* The game needs more DB-based metal songs ("Song Selection")
All three of which do not Get The Point, which is to have FUN jamming with friends and experiencing rock. Jaw-droppingly hard difficulty would put the game out of reach of most friends, since getting four seasoned music game veterans in one room is rare indeed -- like was HMXblogg'd recently, they need it to be grandmother-capable, something where you can pull a non-gamer into the mix and still have fun.
I'm really hoping the GH mentality of e-peen score bragging does not carry over into Rock Band. I'm hoping that the online experience will not consist entirely of top tier songs being played on Expert only. I just wanna rock out without being told "l2pn00bLOLZ" because I'm not some plastic guitar god. And I think HMX gets that... the question is, will the gaming community at large get it?

Surprisingly my biggest peeve is song selection. And this from one of those whiny (and I'll keep whining dammit) metalheads you guys keep *****ing about. If I (metal > life itself) can open my taste enough to accept this pwnge setlist anyone can. This is my biggest because I AM ONE OF THOSE GUYS and even I can accept there's more than metal. Better than so much metal it's repetitive like GHIII.Double bass is a close second.
That said where's my metal DLC? Oh and Garbage owns.

yeah for me it was between song selection and double bass pedal, song selection is the core of the game, imo, and if you don't like it then don't buy rock band and **** off. The double bass argument was ******ed, the drum prototypes were shown to us at E3 and it didn't have double bass then, WHY COMPLAIN ABOUT IT 2 - 3 WEEKS BEFORE COMING OUT!?!?!?!? dumbasses . . .
EDIT: I went with song selection, complaining about that defeats the purpose of the game and then you lose

I voted for song selection because I believe these songs are pretty darn good. That's just an my opinion though, but if you don't like the songs, *****ing to the people on the forums is just going to get us mad. So, why even bother?
My second choice would have been too easy. TOO EASY??? Is that because it's basically a guitar with one string and five fret buttons? Or a drumset with only four pads and one pedal? People who think this game is easy, have you ever thought that maybe... just maybe, it is supposed to be sort of easy? Don't fret, though, for I have a real challenge. GO LEARN A REAL ****ING INSTRUMENT!
For the DLC pricing, all I have to say is be realistic. Stuff is going to cost money.
For the Canadian/European/Australian release, it's not that bad of a complaint at all. If it was December 20th for the U.S. this forum would be pandemonium, and you know it. I do agree that it has gone too far. You have to accept it or be willing to pay extra money on eBay.

I wanted to post this because I loved it. Scanning Amazon and came across this
" How the hell is MTV Games not getting sued by Activision/Red Octane???
I mean aside from the drums and microphone gimmick this is an obvious ripoff of Guitar Hero. The notes even turn to "fire" when you hit them properly on the guitar fretboard. Looks like a fun game though! Guitar Hero sure is a blast."
Best post ever.
Yes, I love those topics/post.
