if your a male singer then what do you do if you have to sing a song with a female vocals lead?

Just sing it anyways, don't care about if the song has a female singer or not. The game will still recognize your voice. You don't have to be a female to sing the song.

you could just sing normally cause it won't matter

Agreed.

Since octave doesn't matter, just sing in your normal range.

Or, for authenticity, use rubber bands...

That's one of my most anticipated songs in the game and I'll just sing it as if a guy sang it I guess.

Actually the vocals in that song aren't really that high... I imagine it will probably be more difficult to do it an octave down. Same goes for Maps.

The Flyleaf song, on the other hand... well, at least I'll get the screaming. :D
