This may have already been asked, and I apologize if it has, but how will Wal-Mart be handling Rock Band purchases? To my knowledge, they aren't accepting pre-orders. Will they put them out at Midnight? I haven't pre-ordered Rock Band (Shame on me, I know) but I have about 5 Wal-Marts in my area and I'm hoping atleast one will have it available. I live in Montgomery, AL, so it probably won't be as much in demand here as some other high-end places.

If not Wal-mart, what would be the best place to try? I have school that morning, so camping out probably wouldn't be a wise decision.

the one i work at they put them out at midnight. I'm in WA.

i would suggest camping out. It can be your "war story" for why you're sleepy in school. Then you can rock out when you get home and it will be "worth it".

But if you don't want to be sleepy, make up for those hours you're awake by going to sleep really early as well as asking your teachers to cut you some slack because you want to purchase a product that will help you expand your muscial knowledge from songs from the 50's up to now.
Or you're purchasing a product that will help you experience the art of music on a personal level.

From the few experiences I have with my local Wal-Marts, they don't really care about game releases. Years back, I "forgot" to pre-order a PS2, and the only 24 hour Wal-Mart near me, at the time, was 40 minutes away. So...I took a trip there after school, got there around 3:30pm, and was #15 or so in line (and luckily they had ~20 systems, I think). I brought a bunch of school work to do, and that killed a few hours. After the store-traffic died down (around 9-10pm) they gave us bracelets, to hold our spots in line, so a few of the other guys, and myself, decided to play touch football up and down the aisles in the store. Last year, with the Wii, they had a small line, but getting there about an hour and a half ahead of time was fine.

With a game, as opposed to a console, I'd imagine the demand isn't quite as high, because its just not as significant. I'd swing by a local 24 Wal-Mart, and if you don't see it on shelves, kindly ask if they have any in the back (which they might, if they have no plans on putting them out at 12:00:01am). Of course, your mileage may vary.

Also, I second just staying up and going to bed tired. Or don't even go to bed at all. Bring home RB, and play it til 8am, or whenever school starts. And then brag about it, as you fight to stay awake during class. It can be a fun experience.

I called one of the 24-hour walmarts in my area, and the knowledgeless idiot who answered the phone in electronics said they were starting to sell them on Nov 23rd. However, apparently "the games guy" wasn't in at the moment, so I'm calling back later.

I'm seriously considering hitting the Wal-Mart at 12am. The Best Buy near here is doing one of those big midnight launches, so I think everybody will flock over there. I'm hoping the Wal-Mart will get a lot less attention.

Yeah, there's no local Best Buy doing a midnight release around here, but there's like four 24-hour walmarts in the area, so I'm hoping the same thing, that WalMarts will be ripe for the picking.

I'll be travelling 2 hours to get to the nearest US Walmart. I just hope they plan on getting a few in, or there isn't a lineup when I get there. I might have to unleash 7 kinds of smoke on them.
