so the rivalry continues!! while GH gets Death Magnetic, Rockband Counters that attack with.. Megadeth!! Peace Sells!!!!!

they are both great bands.

personally ill be getting both....

IM SUPER EXCITED FOR PEACE SELLS... been wanting some old megadeth since release of this game!
but would be nice to have some more metallica too ..

but without question im more hyped up for Peace Sells since it is one of my favorite albums.

i wonder why they would add that album.. i honestly was expecting metallica :P since battery is on rockband 2.. i mean so is peace sells... but u get my flow... the better choice would have been master...

There's still a Metallica/Megadeth rivalry? What is this 1985?

The only problem is that Metallica is 1000 times better than Megadeth and has the fans and sales to prove it. If you want to reach a broader audience Metallica is the way to go obviously. I'm no Megadeth hater but is there really an argument?

well its not 1985 anymore.... but yeah i dont think dave mustaine has gotten over it to tell you the truth...

not an arguement.. just wondering what you all thought.

The Jonas Brothers have 3 of the Billboard Top 10 albums atm (including the #1). Are they the best band around?

Either way, I'm a fan of both bands.

I don't know about skill. Obviously Metallica couldn't have become one of the biggest metal bands ever by sucking. Some of those solos in their early songs are flooring. Then again, going off the only Megadeth song I've ever heard, Mustaine clearly is very skilled with his fingers as well (song being Hangar 18).

What happened in 1985, anyway?

Megadeth blows Metallica out of the ****ing water. No question.

Dave Mustaine was originally a member of Metallica (Kirk replaced him). He parted [was kicked out] with the band on not so amicable terms. He was fired just prior to recording their first studio album (Kill 'Em All). There was a long-lasting feud between the two bands, peaking in the mid-80s with Megadeth's rise to prominence. Mustaine was often critical of Hammet for "stealing his job" and playing riffs and solos that he wrote.

Marty Friedman played the solos in that song.

Not all of them. They traded off.

there is no more rivalry between them, it ended years ago. at a megadeth concert someone was holding up a metallica sucks sign and dave made them put it down

I'm glad it ended. They are both pretty good bands. I would rather see them not fight then fight.

But as for these albums rock band and guitar hero are getting, Death Magnetic will be a good album, but peace sells is a more well known and loved album (and that has a lot to do with the fact that Death Magnetic hasn't even come out yet). So I'm going to say Harmonix has the upper hand right now. If Guitar Hero had Master of Puppets....well thats another matter.

Very True. RB just needs to make sure that GH doesn't get Metallica completely exclusively and their in a good position. If they put Master of Puppets up as full album DLC it would give them a BIG advantage as far as Metallica goes.

Although both are amazing through out thier career

Metallica had 1 turd to me, St. Anger
Thier Post Black Album stuff may have not been very "metal" but it was good in itself

Megadeth hasn't had a single turd to me anyways...

I hope Death Magnetic is somewhat up to par with United Abominations, but I don't forsee it like that, but I have a feeling it will be good

^ I got a 404 on that link Silver, but go ahead and add my name.

Megadeth is alright, but I love my Metallica. Even a little...little...piece of Black-St. Anger work. Until It Sleeps and King Nothing are kickass. No Leaf Clover too.

But ...AJFA is their shining work.

I love Megadeth. Not a Metallica fan at all but I think early Metallica was the best.

Now, rivalry? Yes, they hate each other. But are they rivals? Nope. Just two bands putting out great* music.

* May not apply to Metallica

megadeth has some amazing songs cept most people dont know that they wrote syphony of destruction but almost everyone knows it

i would say peace sells, hangar 18, and symphony of destruction are better than any metallica there is

I disagree with Symphony. Contrary to many, it's one of my least favorite songs from Megadeth. So for me, yes, Metallica has put out better. And I would get into albums more if I were you. 3 songs isn't a very good argument.

I believe Symphony is their most mainstream friendly, which is why people know it. It isn't my favorite, though.

But you know that solo is SO GOD DAMN SWEET!!!

It's one of my tops. It's soooo hard to play on the real thing.

So Rock Band wins for getting Megadeth.

Symphony is the only song I haven't beaten on GHI, although I haven't played in a looooooong time. If my memory card wasn't lost I'd go play it now, but I don't feel like starting all over with a new career... :(

they sold out.

I really think that gets thrown around way too much. They changed, but I don't think they sold out. I could type a really long post about this, but I'm a lazy person... so I'll keep it simple.

-The Black Album was written because they had a very hard time playing the very complex songs on AJFA, and wanted to keep it simple.

- Load/Reload are often called sellout albums... I've never seen why. They were released when grunge was popular... these were anything from mainstream. They only reached number 1 due to the Black Album

-St Anger was far from a sellout album.

I love both bands- I wish they really wouldn't be rivals. To see them ever play on the same stage is something I really hope to see before I die. Luckily for me- I'm still pretty young.

All very good points. Maybe it was the 'haircut incident' that makes people want to believe they sold out??

Personally, I think that most people say Metallica sold out because they are still butt-hurt about the whole Napster thing. I know Lars is a d-bag and everything...but people should really be pissed at the record companies since they are the only ones that make any real money on record sales.
