Alright, I'm successfully miffed.

I saved for months and months to buy the Rock Band PS3 bundle. I traded in every game and system I owned except for my PS3 to pay people back and get the money I needed for the game and then, I go to EBGames. I'm excited, my glee flowing like a river, but the BAM! "Sorry sir," says the man at the counter, "...we are no longer accepting preorders on the bundles."

"Oh well," I think returning home, "I shall call the two others near here."

BAM! BAM! Both say they can no longer accept orders for the bundle!

My question is...WHAT THE HECK IS YOUR PROBLEM ROCK BAND PEOPLE!? THE OTHER NORMAL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD, THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY HAVE TO SAVE MONEY TO GET THE COOL AWESOME GAMES, CAN'T BUY YOUR GAME! I was looking forward to playing the drums or perhaps singing, or using the awesome new guitar. But no! They only sell so many of the packages and force all the other people of the world to wait FOUR MONTHS! FOUR MONTHS to get the complete deal, at nearly twice the price!

Personally, I think it wasn't a good idea financially, because now, I refuse to buy it. I waited a year for the game, four months is literal hell when its already out. You should've at least made the peripherals available when the game came out. Waiting four extra months, what the hell is wrong with you people?

Where the hell are you getting this 4 months crap from? You should be able to get a copy within the month, if you take some initiative (i.e. Craigslist, eBay, calling stores on a bi-weekly basis). Also, where are you getting a figure that says it will cost twice as much to complete the deal? Do you even know what you're talking about?

Personally, I think you're just throwing a temper tantrum because you didn't have the foresight to get a preorder ahead of time. Why don't you blame your local store for only getting a few copies of the game?

Seriously though... it isn't a problem with the "Rock Band people" that you waited until now to try and pre-order the bundle. It has been at least a week or two since EA put out the press release saying that bundles would be scarce for this holiday season. You only needed to put down $25 on a pre-order to reserve a copy--I still haven't paid the balance of my bundle because the store is back in my hometown and I'm away at school right now. I still have a bundle awaiting me back home next Tuesday.

So sorry that you won't be able to get the game... but don't blame it on the "Rock Band people."

hey you should have just preordered online back in september like i did or sooner. you cant expect to go in there a week or 2 weeks before it comes out and ask for a preorder, they will say they have none left! well you can still go on amazon.com and preorder online or ebay. thats all you can do. at least you will have it upon release

This still doesn't make sense. They need to have one guitar, one drum set, and one mic per bundle. The bundles are going to be scarce. Thus, the peripherals are also going to be scarce, and it makes more sense to give all the peripherals to those people committing to the bundle than having separate instruments available right off the bat. This is all about supply and demand--the demand is already far outweighing the supply, and the situation will remain this way for some time, I would think.

Again, the bundle will be available within 4 months. There's only a certain limit Gamestop/EB can guarantee for the first shipment (especially with such a bulky box), so they can't take a pre-order if they aren't guaranteed to have one for you in the first shipment. Keep bugging them every few days for the next few weeks to find out when they'll be getting the next shipment.

I haven't pre-ordered, and Im Canadian. I still think I'm going to be getting this game on release. I'm driving down to the states in the morning before the malls/stores open and I'm going store-to-store seeing if they have it (about 5 or 6 places that may be selling it). The fact that it's a school day also helps my chances.

The phrase "first come, first serve" ring a bell? While it would be all fine and good to wish that somebody could make enough of something for everyone that wants it, the overall logistics of the Rock Band situation make this quite impossible unless the game and peripherals had been started in production months ago--since Harmonix and us as fans wanted this game out before/for Christmas, it just wouldn't be plausible to fulfill the release date and satisfy every single person. And as somebody who pre-ordered the game at a reasonable time and has a copy assured, I hate to say it, but I'd much rather not have the game delayed until they can satisfy everyone.

OK, do you know how many times we've been confused on release dates? That date may just as easily change as the bundle has. Plus, that means absolutely nothing considering the fact that you're wanting the bundle anyway. You should be able to pick up the bundle before February. Also, if you're anywhere near as excited as us "Rockband people", then you would have pre-ordered this well in advance than 1 measly week before release.

This is noone's fault but your own. Noone here is gonna feel sorry for you. Go to Walmart at midnight and see if they'll sell you one.

I just got the news today that my dad preordered the game today when I asked him to two weeks ago.....But not the whole bundle. I'll be playing rock band solo when it comes out :( I haven't been this sad in years, lol. I see why the OP is upset. the peripherals are ready. one of the reasons it's in a bundle is to make the game ready and easy for purchase. less confusion for customers to say- oh another guitar game. what ? drums ? I have to buy a mic too ? That's too much. or having to go back to the store 2 or 3 times angry saying "Why didn't you tell me it could play drums? i could have bought it when i was here instead of going home to find out !" give me a refund !


Also, retail stores for xmas don't want all the shelf space taken up by one product. so, the bundle allows them to put up more product since it takes up less space.

there is a business side to making games y'know. sometimes they are ready before november, but it has been found that releasing games around this time, they make more money.

Well deserved flames aside, your best bet now (especially now that you've already saved up the money) is to get an early start at Best Buy or Wal-Mart. Both locations are carrying the game and did no preorders.

In another thread in this forum you'll find a link to the Best Buy website's list of stores that are doing midnight releases, perhaps there will be one near you. Also, many Wal-Marts are 24 hour, and effectively have a midnight release as well.

Hostess, I have the same problem you do, except I found a place to preorder (online) and am not complaining about it online. I hope by "RockBand people" you didn't mean Harmonix. If anyone you should be mad at, it should be each and every member of the forums who has already pre-ordered, as well as others who did the smart thing.

Have fun whining for the next couple of months (notice how I didn't tag a number on it?), while the rest of the smart people (who may or may not include myself, depending on Wal-Mart's website) are playing Rock Band. *****ing never got anyone anywhere (with the stark exception of our current president:rolleyes: ).

Special Edition is not the same as Limited Edition. Nobody said that there wouldn't be full bundles through next year.

Also, why are you fretting anyway? Not everywhere is evr taking preorders. Youmust have at least one big-box store in your area. Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc. are all places you can line up a couple hours before they open (or night before if you really want to be sure) and just grab one off the shelves. If you are willing to wait in line for it, you'll have yourself a Rock Band bundle on the 20th.

Well, I wouldn't put it that way exactly, but, you gotta realize that EB and GameStop are not the ONLY FREAKIN' PLACES to get RB, or any game for that matter. 'If you don't reserve it now, then you won't get it until December 31, 2069', or 'if you haven't reserved it yet, then it won't be available to the general public until April of 2008 (actual statement from my local GS) or 'you should get GH3 'cause it's cheaper and better.' I've been brainwashed(not by the previous statements, but the availability) many, many times, always after every time swearing to myself that I'll never fall for their sH!* again and, well looky there, I DO! Very stoopid on my part, so don't fall into that trap. You're sure to find a copy at some point in the very near future in somewhere like Best Buy or Wal-Mart or Sam's Club, etc. :D

Software (that's DVD's for you doorknob-challenged sort) can be pressed in large numbers really quickly. There's lots and lots and lots of plants that do it and doing a new disc (including packaging) really just involves changing a few dozen billion bits on a computer somewhere. Write different data to the DVD's; print different art on the cover insert.

Hardware (that's consoles and guitar/drum controllers) have to be manufactured and that can't be done quickly. Each plant has to be set up more-or-less custom and more raw materials (plastic and electronics boards) are needed, so only so many can be made in a given day. That number can be increased as more plants are set up, but setting up too many at the beginning of a new product is risky because you can end up losing money if the product doesn't sell as well you thought it would and you made too many.

Risk is the mortal enemy of Project Managers. You think they're just sitting there doing nothing, but in reality they're sitting there trying to think up crazy ways that the project can fail--and how to prevent that.

So learn the lesson of the PS2, the XBox, Guitar Hero 2, the XBox 360, the PS3, and most of all the Wii: A game you can just go out and buy on launch day; but if there's hardware involved and you really want it at launch, you'd better pre-order as early as you can.

The other lesson you can learn from this thread is how to correctly work a colon AND a semicolon into the same sentence. I should totally charge for this stuff! :cool:

im pretty sure they want to get the special edition in as many people's hands as possible. they will sell them for longer than launch day. that is why Gamestop says additional controllers arent coming out until feb. its not like they will go "well we got the launch batch out so lets just sit on our asses until feb. when we need the other stuff out"
