What have you had to do to get Rock Band?

My friends and I have been going around asking people for their spare change for about a week now, and after getting $50 worth of trade in credit at Gamestop, we only have $9.24 to go until we have enough money to buy a copy on Tuesday (yes, I already have it preordered).

What about you guys? Have you done anything weird, wacky, or desperate to get your Rock Band? (Please keep experiences PG-13)

My first comment was a total smart ass remark... I just wanted to say congrats on being creative about getting your funding. Others would just throw up their hands and say "OMG too expensive!" and beg their parents without taking initiative on their own. :D Hope you get that last $10 alright.

All I had to do was trade in my Wii and four games (including GHIII) at Gamestop, so now I have enough credit to bag me Rock Band AND Uncharted :D !

I knew what you meant, Apples. And thanks. It helps to have a circle of friends just as excited about Rock Band as you to help out with the change collecting. Especially when some of them go to a different high school.

Ask my mom if I could sacrifice my x-mas and b-day to get the game and she agreed. So I won't be getting anything "Big" for x-mas, and I only got a 30$ for my b-day. Which I'm not complaining at all because most kids don't even get that. I'm one of the kids that actually appreciate when my parents do something kick ass for them :p

Yeah well it wouldn't be the first time I stuck around a community for a game for the people moreso than the game (I was two years late for the Kingdom Hearts party despite hanging out at a KH forum).

Maybe the new n00b guide after launch will merit a free bundle :p

I live in canada near toronto and had to go over to buffalo trying 5 stores until i found the last one i went to had 1 360 guaranteed pre0rder avail.. Keep in mind now that i have to go back over now on the 20th to go pick it up.. gonna be a long day....but worth it to have a little band going on the weekend... :)

I DESPISE trading in games and systems at GameStop.

However, I am dirt poor at the moment. I got $40 for my original Xbox, $33 for Madden 08 on the PS3 and $24 for Super Paper Mario. So I paid about $71 out of my pocket for the entire bundle (there is no tax on the portion of a game paid for in store credit).

Money's not a problem, but I'm in Canada, so once the delay was confirmed I preordered it on Amazon.com with one-day shipping and told them to send it to a friend's place in Seattle. On the 21st or 22nd I'll have to drive down and pick it up, and then probably pay even more at the border.

in order to prepare myself for this game I had to:

1. Say goodbye to my old PS2 (only bought it for GH1-2)
2. Buy a PS3
3. Buy a 46" LCD Full-HD TV
4. Buy cables for $200
5. Buy a new DVD player (old one didn't have hdmi support)

to sum it up....around $5000 spent to prepare for this game.

Good thing is...spending that much sort of makes the actual game seem cheap :D

It wasn't so much an issue of only paying for Rock Band, my issue was that I only had a PS2 and wanted a 360 elite first. I ended up fixing up a busted Mac laptop that I had laying around, using some hard drive voodoo to get it up and running by putting it in the freezer. Ended up selling it on craigslist for 600 bucks and turning it into my nice new black box.

As for buying the game, I've had an envelope with 180 bucks in it with 'For Rocking on Nov 20th ONLY!!" written on it tacked to my wall for the last month.

Cancel COD4 Crysis Haze and Smackdown vs raw which came to £150 ($300) and i add another £50 ($100) which makes £200 and phoning every import shop within 150 Miles and finally found one around 100 miles away which will cost £200 plus another £40 for petrol.

So basically its costing me £240 which is the equivalent of $480 for you Yanks.

Thankfully, I've got a good career, do some freelance work, and don't have any kids. $170 for Rock Band won't be the hard part. Buying a new, decent sized HDTV to facilitate better rocking was a touch more expensive. :)

I took advantage of a gamestop trade in deal - trading in 5 games for 30% extra Gamestop funbucks. After putting down a bunch of 1st party gamecube games I walked away with only having to pay $70 for rock band... how sweet it is.
