CD Universe the only option for canadians?

First off let's not ***** anymore more about the delay, we don't need another thread locked.

What I want to know is what other options are there besides driving across the border to get a copy. I live about 7 hours from the border (guessing) so this is not an option for me. The only website I've seen mentioned that ships to canada is CD Universe. Amazon will not, neither will newegg basically these guys are the only option I've found so far.
I'm just really worried that with still no word on the dec.20th date being official this title might not hit canada until after christmas.
(This is where I would love for HMXSean to jump in and tell me it's official especially if I preordered in may ;)

I did too, and if this is the case I'll just cancel my order. It doesn't bill until they ship the item. My estimated ship date is Nov 27 - Dec 12. And thats with it shipping on the 20th. If it doesnt ship by the 22nd I'll just cancel and wait it out until the Canadian release. I'll be in the middle of final exams anyways, wouldn't get too much playtime then regardless!

For those of you interested in pre-ordering the PS2 version, I pre-ordered mine from ebgames.com, shipped to Canada, for 180 $. I know most of you will prefer to buy the PS3 or Xbox360 version (comes out earlier too). I only got a PS2 and I wanted Rock Band before Xmas. Hope this helps some of you.

You could reflect on the fact that hundreds of thousands of products are released in Canada every year, many in very big boxes, without any delay. You could further consider that satisfying the language law is as easy as putting a sticker on the box with French information. Who would like to wager I could have 25,000 such stickers printed by the end of the week for a few pennies each?

BTW I called Fry's and for some reason they will not export Rock Band to Canada. The woman I spoke with was not sure why so fry's it out of the question now to.

Alright...I called CD Universe today, and asked them a few questions.

1. My paypal account was already charged, to which she said they will ship out available orders on Nov 19th, which I already knew.

2. If it was indeed sent by "first come, first serve" scenario, to which she said it was, and that I was 25th on the list. So hopefully they get at least 25 copies :D She also said there were LOTS of names after mine...so I ordered on Nov 8th..if you ordered more than a few days later than that, you might have a bit of a wait.

3. I asked just to make sure that International orders (Canada) don't get placed at the bottom of the lists or anything, to which she said no..since they ship all over the place, it's strictly by first come, first serve.

Hopefully that answers a few question about cduniverse orders to Canada. :D

I think they started to lock them because there were so many threads about it, and some people got quite, um, animated about it. I think everyone has had a chance to settle down since then, and things appear more civil now.

Some lobbying is going on with retailers in Canada because my local retailer near Montreal (I cannot say the name) will get a limited Rock Band X360 bundle for November 28.

This is not a rumour; he assured me the bundle for the November 28. So if you are a good customer and you know your retailer, take a guess and ask. A limited quantities will be available a week after the release in Canada.

The only thing is though, how can he even be sure. I'm not saying I don't believe you because I really want to. I'm just a little doubtful that packaging would be finished a week later when everyone else seems to think it's a month late. Then again packaging should only take a week.

God I hope you're right though, CD Universe stopped taking preorders and my parents still aren't having any luck finding a store in Houston that'll break the street date.

Me too. And excuse my foul language as I normally try to stay pleasant as possible on this forum, I just happen to be in a really pissy mood today as it is.

But all I have to say, and this isn't meant to demean Harmonix in any way, I love Harmonix. But I'm sick and ****ing tired of this god damn runaround. If something is not going to be delivered when it's promised, don't wait til there's only 10 days or whatever left. At least normal people who go into stores have the opportunity to give you their money for a game they want to play. Why the **** should I have to run around, check here, check there...swear at this person, yell at this person, all of them saying "no, we don't have the game" or "no, we're not getting the game til December" or "no, we're all sold out"...just so I can give away my hard earned money. Work to spend...seems like a great time, doesn't it.

And besides, again this is directed at whoever's to blame, because I don't know for certain who is, so I'm not pointing fingers....but if maybe a little more customer courtesy is shown...you wouldn't have this uproar from Canadians or whoever else for that matter. I mean, if there's going to be a delay..fine, it sucks, but tell us ahead of time enough we can ****ing preorder BEFORE everything is ****ing sold out. What the **** is wrong with you?

For the record, I know this is going to end up locked now...whatever, I'm not blaming you Harmonix, I'm just ****ing pissed off about everything. The icing on the cake is the fact that I go to work every day, I get up...and obviously it's not the only thing I think about....but I go through the day looking at these forums, thinking about this awesome game...and what do you know, my rug gets pulled out from under me, and it ends up being nearly impossible to do what I can't stop waiting for...and do it in a reasonable amount of time. For someone like me who might have a bad day like today, they think to themselves... "Oh, I get to play this game I've been waiting so long for on Tuesday, that'll cheer me up a little" But no...not only will it not happen Tuesday, who the **** knows when it might happen, with all this different information all over the place.

i emailed cd universe today regarding the email about the item being discontinued completey, so it looks like there still getting some units, that discontinued email felt like they weren't getting any . So still some hope.

ordering because we received notification from our suppliers that there
will only be a limited stock available once this title is released.

At this time we cannot guarantee that all orders for this item that were
already placed on our site will be filled, but we will do our best to fill

I called a CSR from CDuniverse and she had said they will have a better idea 1-2 days after the release date as to how many units they have since they apparently get the units later than most retailers.

im 50th on the list for ps3 version and i ordered nov8, ill probably won't cancel until dec 20 when canada gets it, there is always a chance they could ship it out stil before the canadian release date.

I thought at first I had lucked out and not gotten that e-mail too...because all the confirmation things they've sent me so far went straight to my inbox, and there was nothing there...but there it was in my junk mail :(

But hey, I'm 25th on the list...even if I don't get it first shipment, which I think I should, it will probably only be another week or two.

I ordered on the 28th Oct and a friend ordered on the 20th Oct and neither of us have been sent squat. We both ordered for the PS3, but it looks like CD Universe aren't getting any stock at all in the first batch. Another friend ordered on September 17th, so we're well ahead of the Canadians on this thread. I'll post an update once we get something concrete from CD Universe.

We unfortunately do not have any information as to when we will begin

Ya I called them the other day and they said they had people that ordered in august..

I cancelled my order.. I paid with paypal and it looks like they don't feel like refunding my money so I will have to call them tomorrow...

I am tempted to buy off ebay or just wait till Canada gets it for retail

ya they wont refund your paypal automatically unless you contact them, you just have to send them a contact under help and choose cancel item , ebay ppl are getting smarter, there selling the instruments seperately from the special edition , just the wireless guitar now is going for 150 , taking advantage of the ps3 crowd.

The only issue I have with getting it off ebay or from the states in general is my concern over broken peripherals. How would you go about getting them replaced when you bought it off ebay?

yea the broken stuff problem worries me but i have a gh2 and gh3 guitars for my 360 so if the guitar break on me i don't care, ill play with my old ones until RB is released here and i can replace it. I have no need for the USB hub as the 360 has 3 usb slots and i have 1 wireless guitar. Don't plan on doing much singing so i don't care if the mic breaks.

The only thing im worried about breaking is the drums, if they break i will be very upset and plan to phone EA and scream and ***** until they do something about it. But if they don't then im stuck waiting until the canadian release. I have a pre order at EB games so if i dont feel like waiting for EA to send me replacements i can always pick up my pre order and then return it with the faulty components while keeping the working ones.
