I haven't seen this addressed yet (maybe I didn't look hard enough). If I download Buddy Holly, for example, am I able to use this if I want to play online with some other people. Also, do the other people all need to have it downloaded, or just one person in the group? Just curious how this is all going to work out.

I'm very curious about this myself. My 2 friends that have this are cheap and won't be buying nearly as much DLC as me.

Very good question. IMO, all would have to have the track. Remember it's like DLC Levels from Rainbow Six or something. Or a DLC car pack from Forza. Only the people that download it will see it....again, this is just a guess.

You have to have the same DLC in order to play the song together. Think of maps on shooters and stuff. So to put it in lamend's terms all people would have to download a song in order to play it online together.

Well if all players must have the DLC that is kind of a big mistake IMO. Wtih 1000 songs planned they should have planned this better.

Why not have trials? Like you can download a song and play half of it or something...and then if you wanna buy it you can.

It all comes down to licensing. The idea of multiple people listening to a song without all paying for it is a record label's worst nightmare.

Consider the alternative. If songs take 30+ megs each to handle, would you rather wait while the song is transferred over to the other players? In many instances, you would have to wait longer for the song to transfer than you would to actually play it. For this reason alone, I'm pretty sure all players will need to have the same DLC in order to play it. I imagine the in-game screen won't even show a song as available unless everyone in the band has it downloaded. Unlocked songs that ship with the game are a different matter entirely since if even one person in the band has it unlocked, it should be available for the whole group to play.

The reason this even came to mind was Crackdown. If only one of the two people had the expansion pack, then both people could play it with the new weapons and vehicles. If everyone needs to have it downloaded, then it will be extremely hard find 3 other people that have it downloaded to and want to play that song, in my opinion that is.

Even a single song will take more space and time to download than the Crackdown DLC, and you'd have to download one just like it 3 minutes later as you move to the next song. As an option, it would be better than nothing, but it wouldn't be convenient at all.
