View Full Version : HMX/Mod Appreciation Thread

There seems to be a lot of random bashing on both HMX and the Mods recently. This thread is to show that those feelings aren't universal.
HMX is a great company that actually provides weekly additional content to a great game. They keep in close contact with their fanbase and consider their feedback. That's really raising the bar as far as most video game companies go.
A lot of people seem to think DLC is their right, and that shows the high quality of HMX. The criticism shows how stunningly high HMX has set the bar. The level of quality that they deliver is unparalleled, yet people are still saddened. HMX, take that as a compliment, you guys are amazing if you can perform this well and still get bashed because people expect even more from you. In essence, you treat you fans so well they've become spoiled. You guys freaking rock! :D

Mods, you do a terrific job keeping these forums running well. These forums are much cleaner and have a TON more freedom of speech than many I've been on. The people who criticize you apparently haven't ventured around the internet much or don't realize that these forums are both tied to the reputation of HMX and a T-rated game. You guys do a spectacular job.

while i appreciate the work that the mods do, i really wish they had the ability to buckle down on people...
i really think IP bans would do wonders for this community, as it seems to be the typical bad apples who make this place a total bummer sometimes.

I am eternally grateful to HMX for giving me (and all three of their fans) Devo DLC. Devo has been my second favorite band since my sophomore year in highschool.

However, I am still pretty dissapointed about today's announcement. I'm hoping we'll see a "bigger" announcement some time tonight or tomorrow night.

I really wish the mods would explain why they lock a thread instead of just locking every thread that is calling HMX out on their mistakes. Yes you screwed up this week, own up to it and at least say "sorry" and there would be way less hate. I'm hating HMX right now from this week and not even a "sorry" about calling a pax pack a "big" announcement.

dont know if their just kids or what but they speak like the world is ending with every little thing. they need to get a life, read a book, play a different game, or something cuz its really getting very tiring.

I played a ****load of Rock Band today and loved it. I'm still disappointed and a little angry about today's/this week's shenanigans. Is that a contradiction? I don't think so. I believe I was led to believe that I should be very excited about the PAX pack. I'm not yet. We'll see.

showing appreciation doesn't get the poster nearly as much attention and fails to satisfy that adolescent urge to pound out "ALL ABORD DA PHAILBOAT! LOL@HMX".

I love you Harmonix. The next time I'm in the area, I will try to sneak in and hug every one of you! So please don't arrest me. And with all you have done for us here, I wouldn't care if you gave us crappy bands for a year, cause that's more than most if not ALL other companies are doing. As for the mods, I've only been here on the forums for a week, but from what I see, it looks like you just lock over stated topics, which is a good thing, it clears up the forums for impotent topics if they need it.

So thank you Harmonix, for giving us Rock every week, you guys should really take a month off, you deserve it!

I really wish the mods would explain why they lock a thread instead of just locking every thread that is calling HMX out on their mistakes.

Normally I would, but I'm the only mod on right now, and the board has been flooded with trolling, flaming, duplicates, IB4L posts, etc. So I'm dealing with it more with a focus on speed at the moment. That thread was locked because the ongoing 'Official Word From HMXSean' thread is essentially the same discussion. We're not trying to prevent discussion about anything unless it's illegal, off-topic, trolling/flaming, an ongoing discussion elsewhere, etc.

I love harmonix. No companies are immune to mistakes, which is what this week shows, but as far as companies go, this one seems more interested in sharing the love and happiness as opposed to just going for the money.

disagree with me? consider the following: if harmonix was only in it for the money, they'd be releasing nothing but motern rock, metallica, disturbed, slipknot, and super duper famous bands all the time. instead, they're doing all sorts of things, introducing us to indie bands, letting us see some less popular songs by artists we like (Let there be rock, ect.) and just overall sharing their love for music with us.

it's easy to give us nothing but super popular stuff like All American Rejects and Disturbed, it's another feat entirely to introduce a generation to genres and generations of music that they would otherwise never even give the light of day...

I love harmonix too, but it's like that really odd girlfirend. you get tremendous benefits, spend your time with her and enjoy every second and sometimes can't wait to see her again, but man, she wanted to do my laundry this week and threw bleach on the colors (moving pictures), burned one of my shirts while ironing (apparent cancellation of the offspring pack that was leaked on live and the mods more than likely knew was coming) and got a headache during the night when i was ready to go (the BIG announcement). i'm upset as all hell and might say some things right now i don't mean and she might eventually say she's sorry in a more than half hearted way (something better than locksley a week early) but we'll eventually kiss and make up.

i need a serious amount of beer right now though. god did that bring back memories.

QFT. I love how we are getting more than just the hits. Full albums were a great idea, because it lets us play those b-sides that would never make it into any other game any time soon.

I personally want to express my gratitude to HMX and all the mods that do their best to keep things under control around here. I, for one, am not quick to forget that we've had great weeks... Boston Pack, Oasis Pack, Roadrunner Pack, Rush/RHCP, Vesuvius, Euro tracks. Thanks to you all a bunch.

I do wish we could somehow crack down even hard on the people who are making visiting these boards a living hell. I used to come here everyday in anticipation of great announcments, great conversation, great insight into the game. Now, I'm just hesitant to find some ***holes running their mouth and trolling the bejebus out of this place.

Even though I'm not a high-profile forum member like some of you, and I'm sure my post will probably go unread by 99.999999% of the community, I am calling for PEACE on these threads! Everyone PLEASE take a chill-pill, go have dinner somewhere nice, go watch a movie, go out and live life for a day or two and come back with a better attitude.

because we're a fan base that feels in a way a kind of kinship with the people who make this game available to us. let's be honest, when has valve, SE, konami, or even activision gone out of their way like they have? like they like to say, they are musicians, and they approach their customers as such

we are a very passionate fanbase with differing views on stuff, but the music brings us together. in a way it feels to some of us like a kinship or a brotherhood, that's why people would rush out and help HMXsean win contests in radio stations or other stuff. mind you, it's an excellent product that we defend to death (why we rip on the inappropriately named mr. bright and the somewhat egotastical mr. kotick, that is his name, right? seņor "we are about to be the firsts to offer the band experience") as much as the music that is a part of it. it's passion, like the passion people feel for a lackluster and simple videogaming experience called final fantasy 7. (the reaction many of you just had proves my point)

it's been a very long and dissapointing week for a lot of us. hopes were dashed, words were said by some that maybe shouldn't have. all will be well by next friday, when we're all guessing like fanboys over the next riddle (if there is a next riddle). on my behalf at least, if i said something today (and i'm sure i did) i apologize. seems only fair.

Aww shucks!

But really, after the whole "no rush" then the "boo locksey" nights I decided I wouldn't mod last night, but rather get some sleep and semi-reasonable hours instead of staying up til 7am modding the forums.

Gotta say, a lot of people on these boards sure are persistent. In no way is that a compliment.

I really didn't see what problem everyone had this week with the various announcements. I really wasn't disappointed with anything they announced, and the six albums have something for everyone. I do agree that HMX is a great company, and really does do more to please their fanbase more than most, if not all, gaming companies.

I'll admit-- I was quite shaken by today's news. The PAX pack had already been announced and an achievement isn't much. It seemed like I'd spent all day waiting for something amazing only to be let down. But, really, it's not that bad. The pack is great and for a great cause, and any and all RB2 questions will be answered soon (release day, also known a R-Day.)

It was only one critical post, but I still apologize for adding even the slightest bit of fuel to today's fire. The mods and HMX employees are doing there best. For that, I have only the deepest of respect.

I do agree that Harmonix does more than most companies to please its fan base and it shows that they've made a great game however with Germany last week and Seattle this week there has been a break down in communication between the fans and Harmonix. Yes they're all working hard and I think HMXMax's internship has ended meaning they are spread pretty thin and it has been a bad week thanks to the Rush but a lot of *****ing could have been avoided had Harmonix just taken 2 minutes out to say in the Announcements forum yes next week is PAX DLC. Instead of announcing in twitter "yer it was great we announced a new achievement and the PAX pack"

What is the PAX pack and what is the achievement? More details were needed than just that and a lot of this could have been avoided.
