It would be killer if you guys could put out an expansion pack sometime next year with some of the DLC and other tracks on it. Any hope for a Rock Band Encore or something similar for PS2 owners? Please don't make Rock Band "one and done" on the PS2.

-Can't wait until Dec. 18!

I dunno, I think its safe to say all you're gonna get it rock band and thats it, PS2 is old hardware with hardly anyone making anything for it anymore there was just enough attention still left on it to warrant them making rockband for it, but most everyone has moved on to next gen hardware. I think its safe to say don't expect rockband 2 to be on ps2.

I have been hearing from a few sources, mainly Gamestop and EB and Game Crazy, that there was a possible conformation of expansion discs for the PS2 Rockband. I sure hope this is true, it could be like the rocks the 80's disc for GH. I sure hope HMX doesn't leave the PS2 behind the times. It's hard for some of us to afford a new system just for a new game. Albeit Rockband is a pretty great game to make someone want to do that, heck I bought my PS2 just because of Kingdom Hearts. But anyways if someone from HMX could confirm this then I would be much relieved.

Yeah I would expect them to wait and see how many PS2 units they actually sell before putting in the effort to create an expansion disc.

In a podcast (and I don't remember which one), Alex mentioned the words expansion discs.

Now, I wouldn't read too much into it, but they have obviously considered it.

They're obviously going to put out PS2 Rock Band expansion discs if the game sells well for the PS2. Otherwise their "platform" analogy would mean nothing and everyone who bought it for the PS2 would rightfully feel ripped off with no chance of DLC. They intend for all people who buy the game to play tons of songs with the hardware - and 58 songs doesn't quite make that cut. An expansion disc with 40-50 songs released every 5-6 months for the PS2 is probably not far off from what they're planning.

Time to get out of the past and step into the present. Some people don't have $600 (just rounding up) to buy a console and Rock Band.

Well if you're short on money now but value DLC:

1) Pick up the PS2 version
2) Play and enjoy while
3) Saving up for a PS3
4) Trade in the disc itself for the PS3 disc
5) Profit

**Note: It has been confirmed the PS2 Rock Band guitar will work with the PS3 Rock Band (it's the same guitar). There has been no confirmation about the drums, however. Any USB mic can be used, so I see no reason why the PS2 mic wouldn't work.

I never thought about that. Sounds great, but then I'd have to wait untill Canada gets the game, which is funny since I live in Michigan.

There are a lot of reasons not to "step into the present." The PS2 is a better party game system. It is small, light, cheap and isn't as fragile which means I can take it places. I still buy GH for the PS2 because of that.

That being said, I'm getting Rock Band for the XBox so I can get downloadable content.

You know if you never let the ps2 die respectifully, the Ps3 is never gonna reign supreme.

And for those that don't have the money...

Going back to the topic, I don't see why expansion discs couldn't be made. The Scorehero folks have been replacing GH tracks for ages with their home brew stuff, all user made. I'm sure HMX is aware of that, and I hope they can take a page out of the "user mod" book. I think there's easy money to be made for them to churn out additional songs on expansion discs. You have to figure:

a) the songs are already made for the DLC platforms-no extra work there.

b) All they'd have to do is keep the original game engine and replace the setlist - that would prevent the GHE:80s watered down content issue

c) charge $30 to $40 (depending on the going rate for DLC)

To me it makes sense, and I think there'd be enough sales to make it worthwhile. Now with all that said, I doubt we'll actually see these add-on discs, but it would be nice, and would go a long way to satisfy those that have been buying all of those HMX products for their PS2.
