I seem to have remember hearing that BWT will be online....in time. Has HMX released any details on when we can expect a patch to play it online? I'm sure alot of you, like myself, can't always assemble w/ a group of friends to play in one location all that often....so online is a must. Any details would be much appreciated, and if this has been asked before i apologize. I did try to search.

There has been nothing announced about a patch or anything.
That was speculation by forum-goers.
I'm sure the desire is there, but there's been nothing official.

It's not a sure thing at all. It might be patchable, it might not.

It's possible i'm just crazy.

Here we go, i found said article:
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/830/830764p2.html
"IGN: Why isn't there any online play in BWT?
Teasdale: Rock Band features several local and online modes from its deep solo adventure to its expansive full band experience. We want to make sure that the online experience with Band World Tour is perfect and bug-free, and as in-depth and fun as the other modes. In order to do that we'll be bringing online Band World Tour to you at a later date.
This doesn't mean you can't play with your friends online though - you can still play with your buddies in a four person band in Band Quickplay or with the head to head modes Score Duel and Tug of War.
IGN: Is there any chance there would be an update released to allow online play in BWT?
Teasdale: Stay Tuned..."

I do hope it goes online but I truly doubt I can around up people to play this enough to unlock songs, at most I could get maybe 2-3 hours a week in with people.
So it's wait for this, maybe find somebody that likes rock band to play, download a gamesave for RB on PS3 <--- Something I really don't want to do.

Right, basically they're looking at it but they haven't said whether it'll actually happen or not.
We might just have to wait for RB2, who knows.

Well if u guys actually read what Teasdale said...and i quote, "we'll be bringing online Band World Tour to you at a later date."
Did he not just confirm it right there? Sure he could be talking about future rock band games, but that makes it sound like a patch to me..

Right, I'd say it sounds more like a patch but that's guesswork and hope.
I also hope we don't see Rock band 2 for 14-16 months, unless it uses the same drums, guitar, etc.
Patch in 3-4 months would be amazing but we know jack right now.

Good point. I wish they would just come out and say something publicly. The game is going to be a blast regardless, but it would be even better if it allowed us to play BWT online. That to me is the meat of the game. Oh well...online is still gonna be sweet w/ head to head and quickplay.

Yeah, I don't know the details of this but from what I've been reading the will of the "Battle of the bands" is getting to make some unknown announcement about rock band, ideas going around about it being about DLC pricing, more DLC, etc. I'm hoping it's about BWT patch or something, anything about it being online would be nice.

Though it doesn't directly talk about bringing Online BWT in a patch or anything, but look through the 5-page Interview with Alex Rigopoulos.
The way the entire company (HMX) talks about Rock Band is as a "platform". Rock Band is not a game they plan on creating, then recreating with sequels. They view Rock Band as a music platform. Thus, they create Rock Band, and continuosly build upon it. Which may or may not include: patches, updates, DLC, maybe even game modes. Who knows.
But basically we won't have to worry about waiting for "RB2", because it probably won't happen. There's Rock Band, and only Rock Band, in which they'll continue to just build on it.
I'd expect a patch. Or eventually a statement how they can't do it. But I don't see any reason it can't happen, but what do I know?

That's a good point, Just read their plans for DLC in the years to come so if you read that and throw in "we'll be bringing online Band World Tour to you at a later date." and
"IGN: Is there any chance there would be an update released to allow online play in BWT?
Teasdale: Stay Tuned..."
Then there is a good shot of a patch at a later date, so hopefully they'll be able to make it work so we can play online.

Doens't anyone that works for the company read these posts? Couldn't someone from the development team come on here and provide an answer to the question?

They can't answer every question at this point in time.

plus I'd imagine they'd have to finish all the work on the otehr region versions of the game before expanding teh capabilities of the game further.

Oh, I'm sure they are swamped.
It's just that the online BWT mode seems like the second best aspect of the game in my opinion. Sure, I can play with my wife and maybe a couple of friends, but at this point in my life, my friends are spread across the country so the best way to do a prolonged career mode (and feel like I'm in a real band) would be to hook up with them online and "tour."
I hope they come out with that within a few months (if not sooner).

All they've said on the matter in an interview with IGN in that direct question about patching was "stay tuned..."

The reason they're not responding is because this topic was already talked to death already. My earlier post describes as much as they'll say on it.
