Well if I was in charge of that decision I would make Ride the Lightning have bass/guitar just because its Cliff Burton even though there are a lot of harmonies.

With the other 2 I would do rhythm/lead since you can't really hear the bass on the ...And Justice for All album. Since they did their best to cover up Jason lol.

Even though I love Metallica's older stuff best, I really hope the first album for download is the Black Album. I have my reasons. Mainly because I think it will be the best for Rock Band. It was very well recorded which will shine through in Rock Band. You can actually hear the bass. No double bass drumming that I can recall so that will work best since you can actually play what Lars is playing. The vocals will be a lot more fun. Overall, to me, that will be Metallica's best album for Rock Band. I even have the DVD audio version of this album and its killer. The quality is outstanding. If they release that as a full album, the first thing I will do is play through the entire album from beginning to end.

something which shocked me was that all the individual songs in the first week (excluding joker and the thief) are all covers. it's not the worst thing but i would've enjoyed masters of jukebox hero and fortunate son. One good thing about this however is that we could see some big bands that have been cover only (i.e. rush)

I wonder how the drumming will turn out for ...And Justice for All. I've been playing the drums for 8 years and know how to play most of it. During that part in the beginning, right before the vocals come in, where he is hitting the toms, I hope they made the far right pad the hi-hat. Because you normally have to cross your left arm under your right arm to hit the toms with your left hand while your right hand is hitting the hi-hats. The pads are so close, its hard to cross your arms.

They were smart to make the pad all the way to the left the snare, so you dont have to cross your arms, but hopefully they keep the arm crossing down to a minimum if at all since the pads are so close. You drummers will know what I'm talking about.

Here is the way I see the cover songs. For Guitar Hero you are forced to hear the vocals, but in Rock Band, if you play with others like it's intended you'll have cover vocals anyway. Most all the cover songs I've heard nail the instrument parts pretty well, with the exception of the guitar on Heart Shaped Box on Guitar Hero 2. I could play that better 10 years ago, when I was 16. Anyway, like I was saying, your bands singer will be singing anyway. And since your virtual band is covering these songs, I don't feel the actual vocals are needed. Don't get me wrong though. I definately prefer the master recording. But as long as the instrument parts feel and sound right, that is all I care about.

On another note. I'm hoping the lack of tracks from Master of Puppets in the Metallica pack means that it will be a full album download in the near future. I know I said I'd love to see the Black album and I would, but why not both?

Since you save a little bit by buying a pack, I'd personally get My Sharona, Jukebox Hero, and Fortunate Son/Joker & the Thief/whatever and get all three Metallica songs a bit later if I was in your position. I mean, you'll have 58 songs to keep you occupied, you can wait a week or two.

I don't know that you actually get to pick songs for a pack. I think the only packs you are able to buy are the ones they put together. Like in the marketplace there will probably be an option to buy the pack for 440, and all the songs will be listed indicidually as well. I don't know how the Marketplace would know you are buying 3 songs at a time to get the 440 price. I'm sure you'll just have to pay 159 points for any song you want that isn't already in a pack.

I can't simply believe this..... I still can't believe it...........Nope still can't. We all should let HMX bukkake on us for thier greatness. I think now Rock Band has already won the DLC war before they even released it. I'm almost damn positive I'll be buying all songs first week. There's so many damn good songs there.

And the Metallica pack... Holy effing sh!t.... I can't believe this at all.... I was really expecting maybe one song from their golden days, one song from The Black Album and something newer... But all thrashiness and purity of metal?!! ZOMG ZOMG!!!11!!

I was disapointed in the set list they have on the disk, but the big DLC anouncement and starting out with Metallica DLC gives me a little more faith in HMX's musical taste for this game.
