I noticed that so far that the hard rock or nu-metal genre have been ignored, with the exception of Flyleaf. I mean that this is popular genre now with bands like Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, and 3 Days Grace getting a lot of airplay on the radio. Not to mention the many bands that have had their share of success like: Korn, Sevendust, Deftones, Nonpoint, Taproot, Flaw, Evanescence, Cold, 12 Stones, Lacuna Coil, Trust Company, Skindred, 10 Years, Crossfade, Trapt, Evans Blue, Finger Eleven, Hurt, and there are a lot of other good bands out there. Songs by these bands are a lot more appropriate for rocking out with as opposed to say bands like the Killers, the Strokes and Jet.

I also noticed that for the nineties, bands like Sublime, 311, The Urge, The Offspring, Rancid, Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Helmet were overlooked.

It would be cool if at least some of these bands were added soon.

Songs I would suggest:
Chevelle - The Red;Send the Pain Below; Safer Waters;Vitamin R;Well Enough Alone
Sevendust - Broken Down; Live Again
Breaking Benjamin - So Cold; Sooner or Later; Breath
Taproot - Calling
Crossfade - Colors; So Far Away; Cold
Deftones - Digital Bath; Change(In the House of Flies); Hole in the Earth
Nonpoint - Endure; In the Air Tonight(Phil Collins cover); Past it All; Alive and Kicking
Trapt - Echo; Waiting; Influence; Made of Glass
Finger Eleven - Paralyzer; Failing On; Good Times;
Lacuna Coil - Tightrope; Our Truth; What I See;
Cold - Stupid Girl; No One; End of the World;
Evans Blue - The Pursuit; In a Red Dress and Alone; Dear Lucid; Eclipsed;
12 Stones - Broken; Fade Away;
3 Days Grace - Never Too Late; Animal I Have Become; Just Like You;
311 - Beautiful Disaster; Down; Amber; Don't Tread on Me; Come Original;
Sublime - Summertime
The Offspring - Come Out and Play;
Dredg - Bug Eyes; Ode to the Sun; Not that Simple; Same ol' Road;
Pepper - No Control; Rent; Zicky's Song; Office; Ashes;
Protest the Hero - Blindfolds Aside; Heretics and Killers
Incubus - Stellar; Pardon Me; Anna Molly; Dig; Wish You Were Here; Nice to Know You;

Out of like 25 bands 15 of them made it to Swedish "Top of the Pops" for new rock and Metal. The 10 rest aren't even buyable in Sweden. Ofcourse Sweden isn't the capital of the world but those 10 I think never made it internationally, only inside the country (my apologizes if I'm wrong).

Rock Band chooses songs with great caution. There must be some ingredients in the song that makes it attractive to play.

I also think they massively overlooked modern music

But I figure they will get to all that as DLC (I mean... cmon they gave us MCR , Atreyu , Trivium , and Protest the hero on GH2)

If they gave us those 4 again on rock band that would kick ass :O

Yes, if one likes to play along to bands who make below sub-par music.

There are a lot of really great old bands not in the game yet...why go to mediocre new music?

I guess I'm just saying that the older stuff is cool, but as far as the newer stuff on the game, especially during the 2000's doesn't fully represent this time period. I mean the bands that I mentioned were pretty much the type of music that dominated the late nineties and early 2000's and are the reason I started playing guitar. And speaking of relatively unknown music, of all the bonus songs, flyleaf is the only one that is recognizable to me. If you want to hear any of the bands I mentioned, just listen to any hard rock station on cirrius or xm radio, or on hard drive xl on you're local rock station.

I respect what you are saying, but I don't listen to the music on the radio much these days. There is one channel on XM I like, but I don't listen to it much either. They play heavy metal pretty much 24/7...most of the time it's pretty good stuff.

yeah 12 stones are cool; their songs have a good mix of hard crunching guitars with solos and vocal melody, mixed with some screaming here and there. they're a good live band too.
