Theres the GH:WT setlist. Half of the songs are in the RB2 setlist, and the rest suck. (Except Crazy Train of course)
Rockband2 is going to win this battle with GH's face crying in the dirt.
What do you think of it? Is it a win or a fail?

Personally I don't care.

I stopped caring when I saw a vast majority of songs looked familiar and that's down to licensing I'm sure... but I don't want to play the same songs twice.

That and I don't want to associate with an inferior product.

[Wrong board, by the way.]

I think there are definitely some songs there that I wish I could play on Rock Band. Crazy Train is a huge coup.

Considering it's not even the full setlist so far, I'd say it's gonna be better songs. Gameplay I'll bet RB still wins. I plan on buying both though

I was actually surprised at the amount of songs in there that are in/will be in Rock Band already... That's a pretty lousy setlist though.

But I still have to at least buy the disc version because its got Hotel California...

The one song I want most on Rb out of that list:
Assasin : Muse

I've always wanted it on RB.

All the ones that i didn't know...i'm not really impressed with.

Assassin from Muse? Don't get me wrong it's a great song...but...personally i think there are better Muse songs to pick...
Rooftops from the Lostprophets? Meh.
Theres a lot of... Meh on there actually.

I still don't understand why they picked Trapped Under Ice...

i don't believe that's entirely accurate, but

"About a Girl"[32] Nirvana
"American Woman"[32] Guess Who The Guess Who
"Beat It"[37] Michael Jackson
"Bullet with Butterfly Wings"[37] The Smashing Pumpkins
"Crazy Train"[14] Ozzy Osbourne
"Heartbreaker "[39] Pat Benatar
"Hotel California"[38] Eagles Eagles
"The Joker"[37] Steve Miller Band
"L'Via L'Viaquez"[39] The Mars Volta
"La Bamba"[2] Los Lobos
"Light My Fire"[37] Doors The Doors
"Love Me Two Times"[37] Doors The Doors
"Mr. Crowley"[14] Ozzy Osbourne
"No Sleep Till Brooklyn"[32] Beastie Boys
"Overkill"[32] Motörhead
"Purple Haze" (Live)[13] Jimi Hendrix
"Rebel Yell"[6] Billy Idol
"The Wind Cries Mary"[13] Jimi Hendrix

i'm seeing a nice helping of not sucking.

I really quit caring, I figure anything they have we can/may get as DLC. That includes exculsives, they never stated how long or exactly what it meant to be exclusive. It may not prevent the bands from offering DLC to other games.

I will buy both and have a damn fun time. I quit comparing the two because I am just happy there is a rival and a chance for me to get more music. If it is inferior, which it probably will be, I really won't care. To be honest, HMX is not the only game in town and to me that is a good thing. I am not dissing RB because I truely love the game but I am not that impressed with the way they select their DLC (especially lately). Will GH be any better? Probably not but atleast I can choose. HMX refuses to get any Coldplay, Sublime, Tom Petty, The Cure and other bands that I like. The fact that there is another option is cool.

To those that are gonna argue that HMX does not refuse anything and that it is all liscensing, you can save it. If GH can get a band, Hmx should be able to get them also. Until HMX/RB disconnects from MTV we are gonna get what they want us to get. They are not going to do us any favors when all they are worried about is the bottom line. This has become a large portion of the gaming industry and they are in it for one reason. To make money. They sure succeeded in getting mine.

I liked 24 of the 62 presented there - that is a 36%.

In the thread on whether you liked the tracklist for RB1 or RB2 better, I was at 37% and 40%. I did the same thing will all downloaded and I had a 35%.

So it seems for music I like it doesn't matter if it is RB, RB2, RB DLC or GH:WT the ratio of what I like to what I don't/don't know is pretty close.

Keebler
09-03-2008, 03:29 PM
I'm seeing way too many songs already in RB2 and way too many songs I just plain don't know to convince me this is worth a purchase. I mean, I might still get it just for the good songs and to try the Music Creator (and maybe for the achievements, as well), but too much of this setlist doesn't distinguish itself from RB2.

I'll buy the disc only, simply because I like these games and I'm not going to deprive myself playing good music over some silly video game loyalty, though I think RB2 will be the better game top to bottom. They both have songs that are favorites, but I don't buy the games just because of a few songs I like, that's just asinine. I enjoy playing the games, period. I've found that I end up liking most of the music after playing the songs a few times anyway, even when it's stuff that I'm not already familiar with, but I like music for music and not for social acceptance. Anyone who hates any type of music is a small minded idiot.

GenJonhForreal

its not complete i think, though i every posible set list was bad. rb2's is better, then combined with the compatability of rb1's great setlist, then to top it off you get awsome dlc, also why do cymbals really matter that much, it really isn't complicated system to tranfer to real drums. also the gh4 cymbals dont look easy to play on. also who cares if it is easy to move around what like moving rb set take a long time maybe 1 min or 2

Rock_Starman
09-03-2008, 04:09 PM
I find that the RB 2 list sucks,in fact one of the worst ever only topped by Rock Revolution and only because literally almost half of those are repeats (10/85 doesn't equal half but I guess fanboy math is different from the actual stuff) and that GHWT is 2.5x better wich is about how many more copies it will sell too.

GenJonhForreal
09-03-2008, 04:10 PM
there are fourteen song that are some of my most favorite songs and most of the other i really don't mind though there are only 2 songs i absolutly hate, every other is tollerable in the reg set list

I still don't understand why they picked Trapped Under Ice...

I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Trapped Under Ice beats the hell out of Battery, and especially tramples Enter Sandman.

Hot for Teacher is gonna be sweet, too. That's enough for me.

And as far as the rumoured songs: Tornado of Souls (better than Peace Sells) Aqualung, Pull Me Under (Way better than Panic Attack), and Stranglehold.

I realize preferences may differ from person to person, but the fact remains: If you like Battery more than Trapped Under Ice, then your opinion sucks.

Battery is a lot better...from one of the classic albums...Master of Puppets...I would rather have Battery even though I am for Rock Band and not GHWT

And speaking of GHWT...Not that good and do not see how they can outdo/outsell rock band. The set list is absolutely terrible! Plus about 25 of them are already in Rock Band...Very original!

Only songs that are good:
Jimi Hendrix
Doors
Ozzy
To be announced Tool
Smashing Pumpkins
Linkin Park
Eagles

SO there is like 12 some songs out of how many that are terrible! I have a wide variety of music taste and think its absolutely terrible.
I was planning on getting both but when I see 80 some songs that consist of many I already have or will have after buying Rock Band, there is no way I will buy it now.
One word. CRAP!

Colt_Steele
09-03-2008, 05:24 PM
For the record, I will buy it on ebay when I can snag it for under 30 bucks. Overkill is a song I've been wanting in RB for ages, and HMX only seems to have a lukewarm affection for Motorhead so I don't know if there will be any more content from them in the future.

There are a lot of good songs on their setlist and some I don't care for, but the same is true for the RB2 setlist. I'd love to play Hendrix, The Doors, The Eagles, Van Halen, At The Drive In, The Mars Volta, BRMC, Los Lobos, Sex Pistols, Tool, Assassin by Muse, and Beat It might be fun to play as well. I'd say they have a pretty good setlist.

I'm jealous that Guitar Hero gets all of the Hendrix and Rock Band has none. I'm also jealous of The Smashing Pumpkins tracks they picked. Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Today, and 1979 being on the GT:WT DLC. And they got Sublime which was one of my favorite bands when I was younger and still love today. Santeria is gonna be sweet What I Got and Doin' Time are two other sweet Sblime songs that'd be fun too. Light My Fire, No Sleep till Brooklyn, In the End, The Joker, and Hot for Teacher are other songs I am also very mad that Guitar Hero got and Rock Band didn't. I think the setlist looks pretty good. Getting Hendrix masters was a major win for Guitar Hero, though they could have picked better songs for GHWT, but I think there will be more for downloads. Plus, getting bands like Mars Volta and At The Drive-In makes it very attractive to me.

GHWT seems to have a wider range of styles of music, I'm not a fan of Michael Jackson and Los Lobos but will bet those songs are fun to play.

RB2 still definitely looks better to me, but GHWT doesn't look like it'll suck at all. There doesn't seem to be much repetition between the two to me. I'll get both RB2 and GHWT and I'm sure I'll enjoy them both.
