View Full Version : Anyone have the Vocal Solo Tour list?

I'm sorry if this already exists, I've been scouring the forums most of the morning and I haven't seen a vocal solo tour list yet.

Here is the guitar list: http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=7651
Here is the drums list: http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=7652

Anyone have the vocal list? I'm excited how the difficulty progresses through the vocal track, and it seems more difficult to guess the difficulty from listening compared to guitar and drums.

Thanks to everyone that has an early copy of the game that is taking time from their play to post on the forums. You guys/gals really are great.

Well, only a select few of us on the forum have an early copy of the game. My guess is that, whoever does have an early copy hasn't got to the vocals yet, or perhaps doesn't want to. For our sake, they may have to suck it up and sing, even though they may find it embarrassing...:D

I don't know about you guys, but I find singing to be a major part of this game. I'm jumping on that right away when I get my copy of the game.

That's the part I'm looking forward to the MOST.... except I wish there were more songs with female vocalists in there. I am seriously not looking forward to trying to sing like James Hetfield

Haha, well that's where DLC comes in.

Agreed, though I'm very conflicted as to which part I'm jumping through first. I'm not sure if I can play through the whole vocal or drum tour in one session, but I think I could for the guitar tour.

Does anyone else find it interesting that Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld is shaping up to be one of the toughest group songs in the game? Guitar Tier 9, Drums Tier 7, and I can't imagine it as anything less than Vocal Tier 8.

Don't try to sound like Hetfield. ;)

Run To the Hills, Enter Sandman, and Blackened are all actually very melodic songs, and will work great if you sing them straight.

The game will score you on how well you hit the notes, not whether you sound like you swallowed kerosene.

And I would love to see vocal setlists as well, even if you only have partials...

QFT.

Way back in high school, my band used to play Metallica covers. I did an awesome Hetfield...but with a price...I blew my voice out in practice the day before the Battle of the Bands. Nothing like performing before 1,000 people with a voice that keeps cracking like you're going through puberty again.

In the IGN video, the singer failed out pretty quickly, so that wouldn't surprise me. On the other hand, the IGN singer sounds like a drowning cat, so I'd be surprised if he didn't fail out of more songs.

I'm looking forward to the singing too.

I'll play drums until my arms/leg start to ache, then sing until my throat starts to give out, then play guitar until my fingers start to cramp. Lather, rinse, repeat until my eyes start to bug out of my head...

I originally wasn't looking forward to the singing. Even though I had a vocal scholarship in junior college, I tried Karaoke Revolution and I just didn't have any fun. Turns out it was all about song selection, and after trying singing at Best Buy on a few Rock Band tracks, I'm excited to belt out some of my favorites.

Guitars will always be fun, but feel like "been there done that" sometimes.

Drums are the obvious new thing. They are going to be awesome but everyone expects them to be awesome.

Vocals... I think vocals are going to be the "sleeper" excitement for Rock Band. They don't get a lot of hype while focus is on the controllers and technical prowess, but in time--I think--vocals for Rock Band are really going to excite a lot of people.

Yeah, here's the secret for the youngsters out there. Hetfield doesn't sound like Hetfield, at least on the older stuff. They used vocal post-processing. That became immediately apparent the first time you saw Metallica live.

Singing is actually one of the most major draws for me to the game. I've loved the Karaoke Revolution games, but their largely pedestrian tracklists do nothing for me. Being able to sing ROCK SONGS is gonna be sweet... especially with the Nevermind album download.

So, yeah, someone post the Vocal Solo Tour list. I wanna know what I'll be belting out in my glorified practice mode-- err, I mean, "evolutionary and deep single player experience"! :D

Eh, I'll have fun anyway... hehe.
(Haven't tried any of the karaoke revolution stuff yet, either.)

Do we really need two snarky replies and two image macros? I was trying to be vaguely funny, that's all. But fine -- I'll not mention it again. You can have your victory over the Internet Argument(tm) and go cheer quietly, please.

And may I reiterate that I'm really looking forward to singing rock songs and can we please get a list?

While I think there might have been an overreaction. I enjoyed both your stale dig at singleplayer and the image macros that it resulted in.

Seriously bakkster, I laughed loud enough the guy in the next cube had to ask what I was laughing about. I had never seen that "beating a dead horse" animated gif.

@Hex: Glad you're done mentioning it. I don't want to have to use that .gif again ;)

I'm going to bump this because

A - I do want to know what the vocal solo tour list is
and
B - It lnks to those constantly falling off first page guitar and drum solo campaign.

I'll add a *bump*, too.
Also, I have another voice-related question.
Do you have to hit the exact note, or can it be an octave lower or higher?
(As in, it's still an A, it's just not the same A, for example.)

Here is a link courtesy of LongDarkBlues http://rateyourmusic.com/list/morgankingrocks/songs_in_the_game_rock_band

It lists the songs in alphabetical order and the difficulty level for each of the three primary instruments. It only takes a couple of minutes to reconstruct the entire set list.

I saw a video feed of the vocal training/practice and it said (and showed) that you could hit the note in a different octave. Good thing or I'd be in falsetto the whole time. Instead everyone will just get to hear my Johnny Cash vocal style!;)

It is a good thing, 'cause so far the vast majority of songs I've seen have been male vocalists, and I'm a girl...LOL (and a high soprano at that)

You know, I have the same feeling. I wasn't into the vocals specifically at the begining of the hype cycle - but now I'm really looking forward to giving them a shot.

I'm pretty sure I'll blow at it, I don't seem to have a very great upper range without jumping to falsetto, but hey - what better reason to learn.

No surprise to see Tom Sawyer in tier 9 though

I'm going to have to refresh some of these lyrics though ;)

There's nothing wrong with falsetto, or head tone. The trick is to mix small amounts of head tone in the upper parts of your chest tone so that the transitions are smooth between the different parts of your voice. If you try to push your chest voice too high, you'll strain your voice and that's not good. Do it enough and you can do permanent damage.

Try to concentrate on a relaxed feel in your throat, and a lot of vertical space in the back of your mouth. (Don't open your mouth too wide horizontally, that creates more tension and doesn't sound good.)

You're not gonna have a harsh "rock" sound to your voice this way, but you're much less likely to hurt yourself ;)

Yeah - That really surprised me too - maybe the source is wrong, but Mississippi Queen seems fairly easy to sing to me - singing along in the car I have more trouble with Maps than I do MQ. Maybe I'm just lucky that it's real close to my natural singing pitch?

Catalytic

I don't think I have a problem with Mississippi Queen either .. but I guess we won't know until we try to sing it on the game :) But, the range seems to jump around somewhat, so that might be the difficulty.

I think RB penalizes you if you DON'T mumble the lyrics to In Bloom.

MQ has a lot of "trills" in the vocals, as does Maps. It's no End of the World as We Know It, but it's no cakewalk, either. It also helps when songs fit within your natural singing range, as well, so not all vocals song ratings will be accurate to each person.
