Is anyone going to buy just the game disc or is every just going to get the bundle? I'm asking because what is the point of selling the game disc by itself if the instrument peripherals wont be available until Feb. This is a four person game but only comes with one guitar. I know that you can play in a band online and that is great but what if I have three other friends in the same room. Right now the only way to accmplish this is to either buy a second bundle myself of if one of my friends buy it (I know they wont because none have a PS3 yet).
Please understand that I am not bashing the game I will be getting this at a midnight opening and can't wait to play it. I just want the Rock Band in my home experience without spending $340.00

I'm confused about why you need to buy two bundles...
If it is just because you need an extra guitar, you can use the GH2 Xplorer or GH3 Les Paul, or probably some other 3rd party guitars.

you can always pick up GH3 for PS3 and use the Les Paul as the 4th player. Or, if compatibility issues are gone, you can use a ps2 sg guitar along with a ps2 to usb adapter. That's what I'm hoping for.

GH guitars, no effects, no solo buttons. 3rd party controllers are often a high risk.

I don't have Gh2 or 3 on 360 or the PS3. I haven't heard if the Guitar Hero 3 controller will work with rock if it does that is an option I will explore. It just seems silly to sell the game disc by itself but not stand alone instruments to go with it.

The GH3 guitar does work, as do most/all others out there. If your only interest is playing the guitar and you happen to be one of the millions of people that have a guitar already, you could just buy the game.

IGN ran some tests, and the GH axes seem to work okay with RB, but they didn't have much luck the other way around, which is disappointing.

You won't be able to set the effects or use the bottom strings, but you will be able to use the GH axes.
So if folks already have 2 axes and maybe even picked up a Logitech Mic (or just want to use the standard 360 mic) they'd just need the game and the drums in order to rock out. And if you have no real interest in playing the drums, you don't have to pay to get 'em.

I will be the drummer because this is the only way my wife will let me get a drum set. But I have 2 friends who will be guitar and bass. I was just trying to get some info and understanding behind the "no Rock Band instruments outside of the Bundle."
But thanks for everyone's input.

The no instruments outside of the bundle thing is just a practical issue right now. There are probably 2 main factors that are keeping them from selling individual instruments right now:
1. Production limits. They can only make so many, and with bundles selling so well, they need to keep up with those first. (And Canada/European orders too eventually).
2. Shelf space. Retail shelf space is at a premium, especially around the holidays. The bundle is already taking up more than its fair share of the limited space at places like Walmart and Target (well, assuming they stay on the shelf more than 15 minutes before being sold out). But anyway, adding several other big boxes would be a tough sell to many retailers.
