View Full Version : Guitar note hitting time window?

How long do you have to hit guitar notes?

I just watched a video of "Welcome home" on hard and the guy ACTUALLY missed notes.... (Which shocked me because the notes were a total joke)

(No offense to that guy if hes around here)

So... is it because the guitar mechanics are like GH2? or is it just that guy?

Is the time to hit a guitar note less than GH2? Equal to GH2? Or equal to GH3? or possibly : Longer than GH3?

I would say that the window might be a bit tighter than GH2. But watching that video and having played the demo, I would say that guy just needs to get used to the new guitar.

Tighter than GH2 = Not good :X and in which case I could understand a 94%

But if that was with GH3s mechanics that would be so easy to 100% XD

Also...

Are the fret buttons spaced like the GH3 les paul? (Small and close together yay) or like the old GH controllers (Wide and far apart -_-)

They felt a tad tighter than GH2.

For the video, in the beginning where he missed a bunch, I think he lost his place on the frets.

(Off-topic, I like how the fret board glows red as you get close to failing.)

There's basically no space between the fret buttons.

Is the hammer on pull off thing like... you can strum for every single note if you want(Like in GH3) .... or you absolutely must strum once for the whole HO or PO?

I'd agree with the "slightly tighter than GH2, but still nowhere near as painfully strict as GH1" assessment. I had no trouble hitting the main HOPO riff in Dani California, but definitely had to be more focused on the timing and less sloppy than GH3 would allow. In GH3, the timing window is so out of whack that you don't have to worry about syncopated notes--just hit them on the beat, and the game'll count it anyways.

The Welcome Home video just seemed to be a weaker player, not a system problem.

I think although they feel smaller than GH II, they are actually basically the same. The difference is the shape of the notes, and once you get used to that, I don't think anyone will find the time window that difficult.

It is the exact same as it has been in all the Guitar Hero's, you can strum if you want, or you can take advantage of the HO/POs if you want to also.

I dont wanna make another topic just to ask this either

I'll probably get an instafail. I've sucked at ALL Guitar Hero games... but maybe this one will make me better since I'll be playing it more.

Just like all the GH games, you may strum if you prefer.

I also felt the timing window was tightened up, which I enjoyed (being a musician myself).

If the note window is even smaller than GH2, I better stop playing GH3 because it's probably making me worse. Their window for hitting notes is so huge.

I would agree that the note window is slightly tighter then GH2. I quit playing GH3 and went back to GH2. At first I sucked because I was used to GH3s gigantic note window but I'm doing better then I ever have now in GH2 after about 30 minute adjustment period.

Meh I don't think it would be too hard to get used to a tighter note window I mean... its not like I hit notes on GH3 way too early or anything

Just focus a little more on timing on rock band

If the note timings were actually LONGER than GH3, the song would literally play itself.

And to answer the random question in the thread, the drums are *not* wireless on any platform.

In terms of timing, it's probably pretty close to GH2. Any perceived "tightness" is probably due to the new shapes of the notes also. Something people will adjust to over time.

Good, that's just what I need (being a musician also).

I heard the guitar is harder to use because the strum bar doesn't click, which I find to be stupid. It doesn't seem like the clicking of the strum bar has to do with anything. What do yous think?

No, the strum bar is AMAZING. It has no bounce back, and nobody should be keeping time by the clicking (except massive noobs). It felt pretty close to actually plucking a bass string, if it were tuned very low.
