Many black metal bands have. And no, I am not going off the stereotype, but there have been ones that openly believed in and worshiped Satan... unfortunately, their names escape me at the moment.

King Diamond is a satanist, too, though only Mercyful Fate applies that to the lyrics, among his bands.

does wasp? and I also remember now this guy who took off all his cloths at CBGBs while on stage and threw his excriments at the stage and beat the crap out of some people there. ran away and was found dead of heroin overdose the next day. I think they said he was satanic though. god I look so stupid when I answer my own question pretty much on a forum.

there's a big difference between simply being a satanic band and a band that actually worships satan.
there is a growing number of black metal bands that practice orthodox satanism, but the majority do not... this includes burzum. :)
i personally enjoy ofermod, watain, antaeus, ondskapt, deathspell omega, and breath of sorrows.

GG Allin? I don't recall ever hearing he was a satanist, however.

On the topic of Black Metal and satanism, many (including Gaahl and Varg Vikernes (aka Burzum)) do not practice Satanism in the respect that they worship the devil.
Varg is an Odalist, which is essentially a mixture of Norse ideals and Nazism, promoting Germanic bloodlines above all others.
Gaahl (and many other black metal musicians) worship "Satan" in the form of worshipping any god not related Semitic origins. Gaahl even mentions in that interview that Satan represents "Freedom" to him, meaning freedom from Semitic religions. He personally has pagan beliefs, but believes even stronger that no religion should force their beliefs upon others, and has a strong hatred of Christianity. He states that in this "Christian world" you have to use "Christian terms" (Satan) to express it in a fashion that the populace would understand. Basically, he worships anything that opposes Christianity, but does not believe in anything Christian (including "the devil").
There are some Black Metal bands that do worship the Semitic devil though.

Well, yes, deistic satanism isn't major among satanists in general.

Nope, but the question was if they "truly worshiped the devil", so I felt I'd clear the air on the matter a little.

Yes, there's a huge difference between Glen Benton(who worships satan) and people like Marilyn Manson(LaVeyan satanist, the majority of satanists).
