When you play in World Tour and only 2 people are playing, do you create the other AI Band members too? Or are you stuck with stock characters? It could really mess up world tour mode if you can't.

I don't think you can, at least appears that way for single-player.

So that sort of really sucks, I hope it at least scales to what attitude your character has in single player (here's hoping I get the band from Blitzkrieg Bop :p)

Allright, but what about the multiplayer world tour?

It's probably the same. But as the milkman said, most likely the characters fit the style of the rest of your band.

Does it really make that big of a difference?

when i think about it, maybe you can add another BWT character for the other instruments, create them as you like, and then switch back to your normal character.

Confirmed by someone who got the Best Buy leak that you cannot create NPCs to fill in missing instruments in any modes, single or multiplayer. Instead it swaps in generics wearing white/black, as we've seen in the videos.

I'll refrain from posting my opinion on that so as to avoid being flamed.

Wow, that totally blows, I think that's the worst news I've heard since the BWT thing :(

thats stupid... the generic bandmates better look decent

Well, that sucks. I can't believe that for all the talk of living out rock star fantasies in BWT that you can't even pick who is in the band. Lame.

No more rants, sorry. I'm tired of being yelled at for expressing my thoughts that the solo offerings are simply "okay" and not perfect. Still, the gesture's appreciated.

Why the hell are people who sit down to play RB on single player getting totally shafted? First there's no BWT online (I understand time constraints) and now we (meaning us solo only people) have to go through all the different instruments with our awesome characters, and 3 generic clones which have nothing to do with the person we made. I mean I could totally understand a specific band set for the attitude of your character, but come on every other person is totally boring cookie-cutter? IDK, it just really feels like were getting left in the cold. Maybe that person was lying though, and we can end up making each character, which would be awesome :D

P.S. Sorry HeX

EDIT: Once again, after thinking it over, BWT online will solve everything haha. And once again, fingers crossed for patch.

i was thinking along the lines of this... so instead of making a new thread i will post here.

for BWT mode can you add/drop members and have the CPU play the part? ideally id like to have 4 of us playing BWT, but im guessing there will be days there will only be two or three of us there to play...are we out of luck?
im thinking if you had the CPU filling in the parts it really wouldnt make much sense because youd be cheating i guess if the CPU never missed a note, or angry at the CPU for scrweing up on a part that you think was easy.

what would make more sense if i can save multiple bands on BWT mode. has it been said anywhere that the game can handle more than one BWT at a time? so if that was the case, we could save one 4 member band, one 3 member band, one 2 member band and pick up where we left off depending on how many people are around to play.

Actually, yes, you can have multiple bands in your save file. And remember, people can drop in / drop out at any time, as long as the leader is unchanging. So you can accommodate your friends no matter what their composition.

However, you can't have their CHARACTERS on screen if there's nobody playing that role. Any role not played by a human gets given the B&W Generic treatment, solo, multi, quick, or BWT. Having them join and then quit is not likely to change that.

i wonder if it would show the B&Ws less than you created character in camera shots

So, what if you have a two player band in BWT mode and the other player drops out? Could you solo the rest of the tour?

Well I just watched the welcome home video again and to say the least.... both girls in the video DON'T look generic

They weren't wearing black and white

The drummer and singer were questionable as to wether or not they were generics

But I think that guy made both of his girl characters himself AT LEAST

Yeah, what tman said (I just watched the same video). That was obviously Solo Tour too. Not sure where this "black and white" noise is coming from.

Maybe it's just me, but I'll probably be too busy looking at the notes to see my own character playing, let alone the other three. It's not worth worrying about it to me.

I just watched the video as well, maybe it takes all the characters you've created and uses them in BWT, Quick Play, Solo Tour before going straight to generics! So you could basically make your own band for everything by creating multiple characters for each instrument (if what I'm thinking is true) and you're right it is solo tour. Maybe the bass was generic, and if so, then the characters the game uses can be pretty out there. Hope so :D

Know what though

In the welcome home video if the girl in the yellow shirt WAS a generic you are forced to look at... I'd consider jumping off a cliff

Well, Now I'm just confused, That didn't look very generic. I guess its not that big of a deal, but I think it would make the game (at least World Tour) at least a little bit more personal if you had some sort of say in who you're playing with. milkman4591 has the right Idea though, if it just took characters you made already, that would rock.

XD

well if we can make the characters all ourselves I'm thinking

Drummer : Make it look as much like me as possible
Singer : Emo dude
Guitarist : Some hot chick
Bassist : A dude with a beard

To answer the bolded question: no. The only requirement for playing any band on BWT is that the leader and at least one other person is there.

Doesn't matter who the other person. Or if there's one to three other people. Or if there were four people playing last time and only two people playing this time. None of that matters.

The CPU isn't "filling in" for missing people (ie, you're not getting points for the CPU bandmates). If only two people are playing, then they'll be scored as a two-player band.

Alright, lemme rewatch the Welcome Home vid.

The singer and the drummer are definitely generics. I've seen the singer in other videos.

Now the question is, which character is the player playing... the black leather catsuit + purple hair girl (who could be a generic; the generics don't all have black hair, just black/white clothes) or the yellow shirt double mowhawk girl? Yellow looks like the bass, and this is a guitar solo romp.

I'll admit, I can't explain it. Every single other solo video we've seen uses your soloist + 3 generics, and uses your soloist's name in the background in place of the band name. Why this one is different, I don't know. Why that doesn't map up with the Best Buy leaks specifying that you can't pick NPC bandmates, I don't know.

With luck... it'll pluck NPCs out of your existing characters, even if you can't specify. Maybe this person had two guitarists created and no drummers or singers.

This is the kind of thing I really wish HMX would talk about. It's a niggling detail but for folks like me who really ENJOY the creative side of games, where you make characters and put 'em through RPGish paces, BWT and create-a-band is where it's at. ...and where it's at is where we're gonna have trouble being due to the multiplayer requirements.

so i guess i can't have my all girl band huh ?

singer: edie brickell
drummer: sinead o' conner
bassist: bjork
guitarist: melissa etheridge

Alright, talked to a source who got a bestbuy leak. (Your choice if you wanna believe him or me or not.)

He's never had any of his other created characters appear while he solos. It's always the black and white generic fill-ins, which are randomized each time.

Still doesn't explain the video, but I'd guess it's either a fluke, or there's some REALLY rare chance a created char appears in your band... which is just silly. HMX should have given us the option to form an NPC band for solo play instead of going with roaming group of nobodies.

Are these Best Buy Leaks even the full version of the game?

HeXcoda
11-15-2007, 11:27 PM
This one is. It has BWT mode, a foot pedal, and all the trimmings. HMX confirmed.

I realize this is third-hand information, so I won't expect you to trust it, but I know it's the truth.
