In all honesty, I don't understand why a lot of people don't like this game. It has its bad points sure, but its got a great setlist with fun gameplay. This is my review.

Gameplay: Its the same tried and true gameplay of GH1 and 2. HOPO are a lot easier. The timing window has been increased for normal notes. Expert has TONS of unnecessary notes, so that makes it much harder than it needs to be. Some notes that, I think, should be HOPO aren't and some that are shouldn't be. The guitar frequently either registers more strums than wanted or none at all, but this is fixed with some repositioning. Co-op Career is greatly appreciated but the lack of offline Quickplay is disappointing. Battle Mode is tons-o-fun. I never thought I would lose to someone playing on Easy when I can beat Lou on Expert. Boss Battles are well-received and break up the monotony of playing through tier after tier of songs. To people saying your not supposed to play against real rock stars, real guitarist have guitar battles to see who's better all the time, so its semi-realistic. Example: Slash vs. Zakk Wylde (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFrcPgyRG9w)

Score: 8.7 Same game, got harder.

Graphics: Eh. Not the best. Singer mouths the correct words sometimes. Something I found weird, the guitarist fingers are permanently bent to look like some hideous deformity.

Score: 5 Not good, not horrible.

Songs: Very awesome setlist. From what I heard, I expected about 67 metal songs and 4 mixed. Not true. Theres more classic rock in there than metal. Towards the end, all thats there is metal, but in the middle its mostly oldies from the 70s. My favorite song has to be Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson. Very fast, upbeat, and cheerful for being a song you play in a concert for the souls of the damned in hell.
Score: 9.6 There are a quite a few songs I would like to play, but whats there is awesomely rock.

Venues: Very random. One minute your playing on this huge stage with tons of amps and big backdrops then next venue, your on a piece of plywood with a $10 starter amp. The venues themselves are well-designed. My favorite is the Desert Tour venue. Theres just something about a huge neon skeleton that brings out the inner rocker within. My least favorite is Lou's Inferno. I just expected Hell to be better. I dunno. The Bible kinda builds it up to be this really horrible place, but here, it just looks like a basement with a janitor with a BIG hammer.

Score: 7.4 Good design on most, random on size between venues.

Overall Score: 8.9 Its a good game. Not as bad as most people make it out to be. Its harder than it should be, but its still very enjoyable.

I think the venues got really old really quickly. Everytime i go back to play the game, i honestly cant decide where i want to play because the all suck.

I like the venue with the dragon head encore... that one made me laugh. The police raid encore for tier 1 is also not bad. You're right about the rest of them though.... especially with the lame advertising plastered everywhere.

It's sad because I really wanted to buy the game, but after going through the set list I discovered that the set list was the most dissappointing part (outside the robot drummer).

There's only about 9 songs (including the bonus ones) that I really enjoy listening to, and only 4 of them are actually difficult on hard. 5 of them are on the easier tiers and I've almost gold-starred them all.

But yeah, thank God for Cliffs of Dover.
