View Full Version : Countdown to rock!: What are you doing to combat the wait?

The wait is driving me crazy for this game! For the past week all I've been doing is roaming the internet looking up any new bits of info on the game I can find. Finally I decided I should settle down, and try to just pass the time like normal...well that doesn't work.
So what is everyone else doing to combat the wait? For me, I've decided I would play throug every Guitar Hero game one more time, or at least just play the songs I can beat (except for "Yes We Can"). Right now I'm halfway through Guitar Hero 1, and I'm taking a break to rest, and type this.
How's it going for you guys? Are you as excited as I am?! Or are you able to keep calm until the 20th? Tell me what you are all doing, maybe it'll give me some ideas to make time to go by faster!

I've been going to best buy everyday and playing the demo, then looking to my left and laughing at the GHIII game with its ridiculous strum time on the notes. I think I could be deaf and 5* all those songs on expert the window is so big.

I have a question that doesn't deserve it's own thread:
If you start a three person band in Band World Tour, and one of your friends leaves, can you just set his instrument to AI and keep playing with your other friend as a two person band?

Yes. Only the person designated as the leader has to play all the time (plus one more person at least).

My wife just rented me "Bioshock" and "Halo 3". I have a jam session on Saturday, and she is taking the week off from work/school starting this weekend. We'll finally be able to hang out, watch some movies, play some games, and enjoy our new 52" HD LCD tv we picked up this week.
But the wait is still agonizing ;-)

Play in my real life band Friday and Saturday, sleep most of Sunday afternoon away since my gig Saturday will have me getting home at about 6:30am, then watch the Steelers game Sunday evening, work Monday. I'm pretty busy all weekend and into next week, but I will still find time to anticipate RB.

Playing GH 3, Halo 3 and COD 4 during all the spare time I have this weekend. Partying Friday night and Saturday night. I wish I knew if the EBgames I preordered at is having a midnight release. I doubt it though. I can still hope though. :D
Anyone who has gotten Assassin's Creed, is it really worth buying or should I just rent it? The replay value for that game seems kinda low. :(

other than looking through the forums like a madman, this wait is letting me get some studying done for later on next week. friday i'll be at school then directly to partying :P Saturday, wake up late, maybe do homework, get drunk, wake up Sunday. This will be the worst day by far. Nothing to do :P The new Naruto game for the 360 is actually reall fun (dont judge me!) so maybe i'll grind through that. Or bust out GH3 (for the last time I'll ever have to, bwahaha). Then monday: Class, prepare for the campout, then get to walmart at like 8 pm. Campout!! They better have a copy :P Then I get drunk and play as much BWT as possible. Tuesday, skip all classes then go home for thanksgiving break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Besides checking the forums for more news every few minutes I've been playing Call of Duty 4 online and will probably play through Ratchet and Clank again.
I had originally planned on playing GHIII, but after a couple of days it's been sitting on my shelf and I've put the controller away until I get Rock Band, I find it far too frustrating to play. Also been rewatching series 1-3 of the Wire on DVD and I'll probably pick up another TV boxset to watch too, although I'm running out of good TV series, I have them all already! Anyone have any ideas on a TV series that would be worth picking up? Besides The West Wing, The Wire, The Sopranos, Six feet Under, Dexter, Seinfeld, House, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, Lost, Heroes, Entourage and Carnivale? :p

Literally counting the minutes.
Friday, I pick up a mic stand and throne, then pay off the rest of my pre-order. (Why do we always do this? There's something psychological about being one step closer, even if we've been told it makes no difference.)
Saturday, I'm working all day. (I teach, so the weekend's are my planning days.)
Sunday, I'm planning on having a one-man movie marathon. No Country for Old Men, The Darjeeling Limited, The Price of Sugar, and Before the Devil Knows Your Dead. Nothing quite like passing the time at your local art-house when your partner is out of town.
Monday, working, tidying up, maybe camping out for a Best Buy midnight release even though my pre-order arrives at GameStop on Tuesday morning.
Tuesday, playing. No showering, no phone calls, no work. Drums in my pajamas. The end.

That is helping me combat the wait, but I may have to wait even longer.. I pre-ordered it from newegg, but I think they were out of stock when I did so.. I don't think I will get the game until next year if that is the case!

Veronica Mars. Target has season one and two on sale for $14.88. Or Firefly. Target has it (only one season was made) on sale for $14.88 as well.
I'll probably play some Kingdom Hearts II this weekend, maybe re-watch some of the aforementioned Veronica Mars, watch some football on Sunday if there's a good game on. Hopefully Monday at work will be busy so that it goes by quickly.

Flight of the Conchords is practically required viewing if you haven't seen it. Absolutely brilliant comedy. Scrubs is another great one to pass the time, we watched two straight seasons a while back and I wasn't bored for a second of it. Family Guy can be great to pass the time as well. 24 is excellent as well if you're looking for some action.
If you only check out one of those, make it Flight of the Conchords. That show is so great.

Season 6 was definitely the worst season yet (but it was 24, so it was still pretty good). But they recovered well after Season 4's sluggish season, so I have hope that they'll get back on track again next year. Or maybe 2009 if the writer's strike keeps up... :(

Oh I love Rescue Me too, great, great show. I remember I started watching the first episode purely because it was something that was on and it seemed like it would be diverting, then by half way through series 1, I realised it had fast become one of my favourite shows. Lol, well I was actually talking about Assins Creed, it's the cheap rip-off version that costs 10 bucks. It's basically the same except you just use one button (the Assinate button) to kill the people, well I say people, there's only one other character in the game, and he's always asleep, with earplugs, and his back to the door...it's a pretty short game, and therefore I repectfully disagree with your opinion that it's the best game ever! :p

I did the same, not just so I could get in the mood, but so I'd me more familiar with them so I'd be able toplay them better from the get-go. I had a hell of a lot of them already anyway which was cool, and why I love the RB setlist so much.
I've done this for the first two GH games, and now for RB. It helps a lot, and increases my music collection.
Besides that: TF2, Halo 3, Carcassone, and assorted other ways to pass the time.

Hey Bakkster, you should send me your gamertag. I can't find anyone to play TF2 with on live.

I'm soo glad its less than a week b4 the game comes out. I've been counting down the days since july when I found out ths amazing game was going to come out. The past 3 weeks have been killer. I've been almost obsessing over the game. I've found every video. Article. Review and what not on this game the last couple weeks cause I've been so amped for it.
These last few days will be the longest days of my life. Its almost sad but I've never been so eager to get something in my life. I'm glad I found people on here that feel the same as me. I've ben telling everyone its not just a game, its an experience.
I rented call of duty 4 yesterday to help me pass the time and I have to say that is one of the best fps games I've ever played. The story mode and online multiplayer will keep me busy until tues (which is when I need to return the game lol).
I hope everyone has something to keep them entertained until the game comes out. If not go rent call of duty 4 to keep u busy. Or assassins creed. I heard that was good

Seeing as how I won't be getting it until sometime next year... loads of Mass Effect, and maybe I'll pick up the Orange Box..

Reading as much of Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics, playing Guitar Hero 3 because I don't have my 360 to play GH2 on anymore, sleeping (I <3 sleeping), and doing whatever to pass my time. Basically what I do on a day-to-day basis. I'm staying quite calm and not fretting about it anymore because we paid my preorder off, and I know I'm getting a copy on Tuesday. I can't wait for it, though.

I WAS planning to rent Super Mario Galaxy this weekend, but the local rental store didn't have it. >=[
So I rented Call of Duty 4 instead. Just finished it today...and I'm kinda tired of the multiplayer (played the hell out of the beta)...so hopefully when I return this game, they'll have Mario Galaxy in, then I'll be playing that 'til Tuesday. :D

I got Mario Galaxy to hold me off.
Awesome game, so true to the gameplay of Mario 64.
