After over a month, the hiatus of battles has resumed, which I will main for 2 or 3 battles.
SUBLIME
Sublime was an American ska-punk and reggae band that originated in Long Beach, California. Founded in 1988, Sublime were Bradley Nowell (vocals and guitar), Bud Gaugh (drums) and Eric Wilson (bass guitar). Lou Dog was the mascot of the band. Sublime achieved major mainstream success with their self-titled third album. Nowell died of a heroin overdose shortly before its release, resulting in the band's split in 1996.[1] Worldwide, Sublime has sold over 17 million albums,[2] including about 10 million in the U.S. alone. Former members include Kelly Vargas (who played drums while Gaugh was in rehab) and Michael Happoldt (guitar) for a very short time.

RHCP
Red Hot Chili Peppers are a multiple Grammy Award-winning American funk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983. For most of its existence, the band has consisted of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, guitarist John Frusciante, bassist Michael "Flea" Balzary, and drummer Chad Smith. The band's varied musical style has fused traditional rock and funk with various elements of heavy metal, punk rock and psychedelic rock.
In addition to Kiedis and Flea, the group originally featured guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons. However, Slovak died of a heroin overdose in 1988, resulting in Irons resigning.[1] Irons was replaced briefly by former Dead Kennedys drummer D. H. Peligro before the band found a permanent replacement in Chad Smith, while Slovak was replaced by up-and-coming guitarist Frusciante. This lineup recorded the band's fourth and fifth albums, Mother's Milk (1989) and Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991).
Blood Sugar Sex Magik was a critical success and sold over twelve million copies. However, Frusciante grew uncomfortable with the band's success and left the band abruptly in 1992. Kiedis, Flea, and Smith employed Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction for their subsequent album, One Hot Minute (1995). It, however, failed to match the critical acclaim of Blood Sugar Sex Magik and sold fewer than half the copies of its predecessor. Shortly afterwards, Navarro was fired from the band due to creative differences.
Frusciante, during his time away from the band in 1998, completed rehabilitation and at Flea's request, rejoined the band. The reunited foursome returned to the studio to record Californication (1999), which went on to sell fifteen million units worldwide, becoming their most successful album to date. It was followed three years later with By the Way (2002), which continued their success. In 2006, the group released the double album Stadium Arcadium. The band has won six Grammy Awards. They have sold over fifty million albums world wide, have had seven singles in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 (including three singles in the Top 10), have had five #1 singles on the Mainstream Rock charts, and a record eleven #1 singles on the Modern Rock charts[2] making them one of the most successful acts in the history of alternative rock music.

I vote for RHCP mainly because i think that chad smith is a sweet drummer, well al least his solo stuff from early in his carrer. plus i dont really like Sublime, probly because they are over played by some of my friends.

C'mon man theirs no way you can expect me to vote between Sublime and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Sublime made one really really great album (their self titled album) and the Red Hot Chili Peppers made several great records and have so many great tunes. God, I can't choose.

This man speaks words of truthiness.
I believe I've mentioned to you multiple time, RBF, you're addicted to the topic button. You gotta take the addicted away from the addictor, in the (paraphrased) words of Nikki Sixx.

ATTENTION
I apologise for doing this battle without consulting Julio. I was just so excited from talk in that other thread, and I missed having these. The next battle will be some time after RB 2 comes out. My question is this: What is wrong with battles? Didn't we only shut them down because of all the now-dead copycats?!?

i don't really take part in much discussion on those threads (though i typically vote) so my opinion probably isn't worth a lot, but i have no problem with them.
i think sometimes maybe there's too many of them on the front page, but it's not something i'd really complain about unless it got totally out of hand...
i also agree with some users that it's good to have a break now and again.

No, because people were tired of all the polls.
Well then, why don't we make the next ones more post-driven than poll-driven? Why not have people post their vote, which the OP will count for a few days and then declare a winner?

They just aren't a good idea, imo. They end up spawning copycats that take over the forum (like the "overrated" threads are currently). They tend to not have legitimate discussion (don't think that would change even if you eliminated the polls), and when it happens it tends to be very meaningless because all the parties have already voted in the poll.

Some of them did have some discussion, like the finale Rush vs. The Beatles.

A vast majority don't, and even when the discussion happens its all but moot, because 90% vote before reading.

I picked Red Hot Chili Peppers. Sublime is great, but they don't have nearly enough material to compete with the Chili Peppers. Sublime's self-titled is better than any Chili Pepper album, but the Chili Peppers have been releasing quality music for what, 20 years now?

Sublime By far is better take Bradley Nowell's death into consideration did the chili peppers complete as much in 3 albums like sublime did. the chili peppers have a few good hits 2 or 3 from each album not more then 10 in total from all their albums on the other hand sublime has come out with many hits when brad was alive so all you people who think the chili peppers are better can go and suck my left nut.
