Will the PS3 Rock Band guitar work with the Guitar Hero line of games?

I was wondering if the Rock Band guitar will be compatible with the Guitar Hero line of games on a PS3. I have the PS2 versions of the games and it would be nice to be able to get rid of my PS2 console along with the two guitars I have for it. I might not go back to the Guitar Hero games after playing Rock Band but it's still a nice option to have.

I don't have a PS3 yet. My girlfriend suddenly decided to buy me one after seeing an add in a magazine. She thinks that the PS3 just came out because she has never seen it before >_>

Anyways, after reading up on the PS3's it seems that I need to either get a 60GB or 80GB version if I want to play PS2 games. GH is pretty much the only game that I still play on the PS2. If the RB guitar doesn't work then I might as well save her a hundred dollars and get a 40GB PS3 or just buy RB for Xbox 360.

The reasons why I don't want to buy it for the 360:
* I keep the 360 in my room and the PS2 in the basement where my girlfriend and I play GH.
* I don't have enough space in my room to set up RB.
* I'd rather have a PS3 replace the PS2 in the basement rather than moving the 360 to the basement.
* She can borrow the PS3/RB without worries (not giving up the 360 with all these new games coming out)
* I get a free PS3 >_> (hmm... let her buy RB:SE for $170 or a PS3 for $400-$500....)

This is the million-dollar question which no one has an answer to yet. Sorry man, I want to know too, but I guess we get to wait until Tuesday to find out.

On 360 they wont work with GH 2 so i assume its the same with PS3.

The compatibility is GH Controllers with Rock Band not the other way round.

This is the last compatability question that really needs to be answered.

Will the PS3 controller be able to play old guitar hero's as well???

get the 60 gb if you can. it's been discontinued and it's the one that is the most backwards compatible.

best buy should still have some. of course, ebay has some too.

Guess we'll all have to wait and see on Tuesday. I'll put the PS3 on hold till then.
