from the IGN review

Though currently only available locally, BWT will get a patch to allow for an online career mode at some point in the near future

HMX said this a while back.

Naa they sort of danced around it, never a definite confirmation. I hope with every fiber of my being a patch eventually comes out :D

Yep, that's what we were talking about. It just says it will get a patch, oh I think it's going to happen, so until they can release the patch at least we can quick play it up, get some practice in and things like that.

God, being able to play with friends from back home, people you know online, yeah that would be amazing.

Don't take some offhand remark with no backing evidence by a gaming news site as gospel.

ALL! ALL THAT WE KNOW, all that is confirmed, is this:

Harmonix would LIKE to add online BWT. Oh, and "Stay tuned." That's not confirmation of a patch or a sequel or a timetable or anything whatsoever, just that they have a desire to do it, somehow.

I think I know the answer but is this game online at ALL from launch so where I could play agianst or with other people.

Yes. Quick play in band cooperative and various types of two player duels is available. Just not the "tour" mode with moving from city to city and making decisions as a band.

Thanks I actually was reading the review on IGN and hadn't got to the last page to confirm, still appricated.

This is probably the best confirmation we're going to get until Harmonix says something officially and gives prospective dates.

Nah, they flat out said it.

We want to make sure that the online experience with Band World Tour is perfect and bug-free, and as in-depth and fun as the other modes. In order to do that we'll be bringing online Band World Tour to you at a later date.

Great to hear, maybe I'll be able to have a decent band seeing as most of my family and friends can't play above medium.

They've always said that. And when questioned if that means "patch" or "RB2", they won't say.

Let's just move on and be happy if it happens... and be too busy rocking to notice if it doesn't.

From what i've seen of that wafflez kid playing, online seems FLAWLESS. Everything seems to work exactly like it should and that's pretty amazing. I really do hope BWT gets a patch, my little sister doesn't want to make that medium to hard jump on the guitars and none of my friends like rhythm games. So my only hope is this patch, as well as many other people here.

That's before the servers are clogged with 1,000's of people playing simultaneously. I have faith in Harmonix to keep stable servers though.

Just thank god it's not EA servers :p

If anything has ever needed to be QFT, its been this line. If they had used EA servers, I can guarantee the game would have fallen into the 7-8 range in scores rather than a sexy 9.5 :D

Surely there is minimal interaction with any servers after a game has started?

Sounds good...I gotta get some of my friends that live out of state to get this game now!

I doubt that. WTB mode doesn't even work online at the moment. That having been said, since it's the "meat" of the game, some unreliability on servers for supplemental game modes would not be enough to bring the score down more than I would say, .5 or such.

I do agree that having been given the EA experience with Skate, I have more faith in HMX's capabilities than their distributor's...

No, if quickplay or any other online was messed up, this game would take a serious hit. It's honestly a staple for Rock Band, being able to play with other, real, people. That's why I believe BWT wasn't originally online, time constraints aside; they didn't want the most amazingness of the game to be screwed up due to laggy and inconsistent online connections. Using EA servers would destroy everything good about RB.

But how would BWT work online?

Would you just go in as host and get 3 random people? Or would you have to have the same people every time?

BathTub
11-17-2007, 06:06 AM
Same as any other online multiplayer game, your choice!

And you don't need to have the same 3 people in the band now, why would that change?

Yeah, you could set up a party system like in COD4 or Halo 3 so that the same 2-4 people could go from song to song to song together.

If you wanted to have the same 3 guys with you always, then there's no reason you couldn't do that, either.

From my understanding, yes you would go in as leader/host, and people could join your band. If anyone left just like that, they could be replaced by any old person and you could continue your tour. 2 people are required, but the others can be NPC's, just like BWT offline.
