hey guys! kinda new here, but after reading the ign review, im having doubts about playing this game alone. Most of my friends that come over are pretty close minded(only like shooters and sports games). I, on the other hand, am more "hardcore". I love all games, especially music rythym games(my fav genre). I think they will play with me in rock band a few times a week, but not as much as i want them to. So my question is do you think this game is worth purchasing if i only play with friends a couple of times? I was extremely hyped for this game, but now im starting to worry...

Why wouldn't it be fun by itself?
Guitar hero is fun by yourself
Drum hero should be fun by itself
I donno about singstar but w/e

Well, not all of the Rock Band songs will be enjoyable for all of instruments. So whatever you play, you will have the occasional song that doesn't interest you much.
If you're hardcore, though, you can do BWT playing an instrument and singing. I think this makes it worth getting for solo play, if you can handle it. Also, there's always online quickplay, and likely online BWT at some point. I can't really think of any reason why this would be a BAD solo game, it's just better multiplayer.

I think it will be fine if you play by yourself. I mean, if you like a bunch of songs on the track list how could it not be?

I've tried playing real guitar while singing and quite frankly I get confused and accidently stop singing to play the guitar right lol
BUT I suck at real guitar and I'm pretty friggin good at guitar hero
As long as I actually know the lyrics to a song in the 1st place I can do guitar and sing at the same time for sure
Drums+Singing for me personally I think would be psychotic to try on day 1 because I gotta get used to the drums lol

You couldn't but the cowbell and stuff is completely optional
I figure its impossible to sing and do another instrument at the same time UNLESS you know the song by heart
Cause then you would have to somehow read the singing scroll thingy and the instrument at the same time which = you failing :/
(>_> Honestly I dont know many of RBs songs lyrics by heart.... I know SOME lyrics to most of it but 100% I donno by heart for most of them)

id say i know about 75-80% of the songs by heart. Im a classic rock junkie, and know alot of the modern stuff. I wish bwt was single player but i liked guitar hero single player, is this single player like that?
srry for all the newb questions

As long as you MOSTLY know the song, you can do both. I've done it at the BB demo station, it's just very tricky. I usually forgot the correct words, so I'd sing whatever seemed right to me at the time. You can also cowbell/tambourine by saying "pow" or similar.
And since BWT has you playing a lot of songs multiple times, you should learn the words relatively quickly ;)

ya i figured i would play solo drum career and solo guitar first, by then i should know most of the lyrics id say, so i could do the mic career and then bwt. sounds great. I know by the time i beat gh1 and 2 on medium and hard, i knew their words

Eh well I only know 100% lyrics to songs I basically embed into my brain by listening to 5000 times (As in bands I listen to on purpose all the time)
I think I might be able to do Foreplay/long time , Enter sandman , Highway star and some others
But for the most part I know little to no lyrics to alot of them
By just sing w/e seems right do you mean like... sing jibberish that just sounds the same as what they are saying and it works?
Like in enter sandman when he sings "Taaake my haaand off to never never land" what if you said "Aaaaaaaaake my aaaaaaa uff tu nvr vr lansjlg"
lol

Or hum. The only times you need to pronounce the word correctly is during the atonal sections ("Awwwwww wham bam thank you ma'am!") which score you on pronunciation.

I plan on playing a lot by myself. Three solo tours, and I'll try BWT with guitar + singing. Can't wait!

No. You will not.
Edit: Okay I tried to resist but I have to point out this is a joke (making it 50% less "funny").

Your friends will probably be excited when you first get it, so enjoy BWT with them over Thanksgiving weekend and for the first few weeks. However, if they only like sports games and shooters they will get tired of it eventually.
Then you should do what I plan on doing:
Play through the solo career for each instrument and decide if guitar or drums comes easier to you. After you complete the solo campaign singing you will have a better knowlege of each song. Download (legally) the 45 licenced tracks and learn the lyrics as best as you can. Sing along with them in the car, whatever. Then go for BWT singing and playing whichever of the other instruments that you can handle best. It'll most likely be guitar or bass. It'll be fun having complete control over your BWT band, picking the name, logo, etc. without having to worry about the opinions of your friends.

Meh, you don't even need to know the lyrics. As long as you get the right pitch you can pretty much say whatever as long as you know what's coming.
