View Full Version : Could Zeppelin be coming????

Zeppelin has been notoriously stingy with their licensing rights, we all know that. Many of us have heard the rumors that both Harmonix and Activision have been actively pursing them. This much we know. Zep has also been one of the few bands that's music has been absent from iTunes. I just popped up iTunes to download some Weezer when I was greeted with a little banner that had the Zeppelin logo on it. I clicked it and was gloriously led to a page with every Led Zeppelin studio album, as well as "How the West was Won" and an iTunes special album which basically is every track available on one download. It appears that Apple has finally acquired the rights to sell Zep's music. Now the important question is this....with iTunes breaking down the barrier to Led Zeppelin's catalog, could this be a sign of things to come? Will licensing rights start to flow a little more freely? Please God let it be so.....

Please God is right it would be awesome if they added Led Zeppelin

I'd be willing to bet that the first $2.99 songs are Led Zeppelin tracks. Warner Bros paid a lot of money for the rights to handle licensing for the band, and they also agreed to raise the royalty rate. This leads me to conclude that 1. The Led Zeppelin catalogue is going to get whored out anywhere possible (including Rock Band, even though the band needs to give consent for any synchronization with a video component). and 2. the price is going to be higher. This is my hunch.

If that's the case, Zeppelin is one of about 3 bands that I'd willing to pay the premium price for...I'd pay $50 just for Led Zeppelin IV alone. That's just me though.

Ok WOW lol you must really love them

I wouldn't pay anything above standard price for IV or any other led zeppelin album

MAYBE slightly over standard if they decided to be jerks about it and charge like 10% more

I'm not a fan of Led zeppelin but their music is good to a point where I would enjoy playing it on rock band and to a point where if its on the radio I leave it on (Usually)

Led Zeppelin IV would be the worst choice for DLC. Two of the songs don't even have drums.

Led Zeppelin I, II, or Houses of the Holy.

I've said this many times...Mothership is the answer!

That or an iTunes thingw where we get all 85 songs...that would just be amazing.

It'd end up being like $100 though, but that would easily be a steal, at like, $1.17 per song...hey, a guy can dream?

Can you imagine playing the guitar part in Black Dog?

playing bass on Dazed and Confused?

Drums on almost any song? Bonzo's amazing, but especially in Rock n' Roll

or trying to sing in Robert Plant's falsetto?

Led Zeppilen would be perfect for Rock Band in that there is a rock legend playing every instrument, and singing of course. I would definately pay significantly more for Zeppilen DLC than any other. (except maybe the Beatles)

two songs really come to the forefront as far as Bonzo is concerned....

When the Levee Breaks & Moby Dick

HMX said that there isn't a band that HMX and MTV aren't capable of getting.
I would LOVE to see Zeppelin, along with the Beatles, Floyd, and many many more.

I don't think they said this. They said no band is off the table, meaning they haven't given up on anyone...yet. Not quite the same thing though.

Glad to see this has been a topic of discussion since the game came out. Un-glad to see the amount of progress :( (unless it's been behind closed doors and they just surprise us - which i doubt :( )

My $0.02 -- I think we will see premium priced Zep DLC towards the end of the year, for the holiday buying season. Zep will want a large install base (and I believe Rock Band sales are going to be steadily good throughout the year despite new GH releases) and the DLC sales figures will be shown to them and will impress them, particularly as the year goes on and albums start to show up in the DLC sales reports. I think the albums are going to blow the doors off the current DLC numbers.

I also think it is possible that Zep DLC will be introduced at a premium price, and then discounted ~6 mo later when new premium priced Zep DLC is announced. At least, that's what I would do :D

And I know that the moment Zep DLC is released I will slowing down the PSN network downloading every little bit I can get my grubby hands on, premium price or no.

I don't think there is any necessity to argue the merits of playing some Zeppelin. HMX knows. If you want to call up you uncle who knows robert plants pedicureist that might help more.

That's definitely a possibility. I with it wasn't true though :( the sooner the Led Zep the better, I say!

Best potential news I've heard all day. Good Times, Bad Times would be sickening on the drums.

What I have been told by their management is that Jimmy Page doesn't want to give up his masters to HMX. When they did the Mothership remasters he remastered all the songs for the project and he still hasn't given us approval for the vinyl yet which is why it didn't make the street date. Jimmy has been VERY hands on with the whole process. That being said in time he could come around. With the band talking about touring later this year anything is a possibility.

I don't get why Led Zep wouldn't give the rights over. Would they be at a loss in any way ? I'm not trying to be a sarcastic ******* I'm seriously wondering, lol.
