View Full Version : When does the kick pedal come in?

According to the IGN review:
"I will say that the transition from medium to hard seems like a big leap. Not only do you add the dreaded kick pedal (getting my foot and hands to do something completely different from one another proved to be a Zen experience where I had to turn off my brain and become one with the drum set), but you'll also be hitting two pads at once on several occasions, sometimes in conjunction with the kick pedal."
So, does that mean that there is no kick pedal on medium? I thought I saw a video of medium, and it had the kick pedal. Also, I thought I saw a bit of kick pedal notes on the demo on medium, but I could be wrong.
Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it's in Medium. I think it might be used in Easy too.

On the tour, I used the kick pedal on easy. It's just not very often and almost always by itself and not part of the standard rhythm. (straight 1 beats will be skipping the bass on the 1)

On hard is when you have to start using the kick pedal on down beats, but on Easy/Medium it's only on the upbeat...

I don't even know what that means.
Which I find awesome... by the time I get through drums, I'll have all new knowledge.

Based on my experience watching people play the drums at Best Buy, this game should teach a lot of people about the concept of quarter notes. That makes me happy, because they clearly don't understand that concept at the moment.

I can wait until Christmas when I will finally get it and play the drums. Everyone will look like total n00bCaKEz and it will be hilarious like when Guitar Hero first game out.

Only those who got theirs around Christmas and haven't been spending days at the demos that are lucky enough to have kickpedals. Or actual drummers. The guys who get it on launch will have a month of experience on the Christmas-getters.

Played the full retail demo today on the Rock Band Tour.
Medium definitely uses the pedal for the bass drum.
Drumming will kick your booty at first unless you're already a drummer

I'm just gonna start on hard and force myself to learn from there
I'm a drum enthusiast and professional air drummer (Air double bass included)
I think I'm ready to do hard :O
and if I can't do hard... TOO BAD I will sit my ass there on tier 1 on hard untill I get it down lol

well although i did used to play the drum set, i didn't find Hard mode to be all that difficult. at least to pass the level.
i played drums at a wal mart and id was one withoug the foot pedal.
i hope it's not me, but the drums seemed easy. i hope that the pedal wil make it harder. in fact i'm sure it will.

Yea if the GH series has taught me anything the transition from Med to Hard is a crazy step up and I do not want to get used to medium before having to relearn everything once I get to hard.

Oh, drumming is definitely much easier without the kick pedal to worry about.

Being a drummer, I will find it hard not to play on expert. It's not like the guitar part on medium or hard, while strumming notes the actual music playing sounds like you are playing the whole song, rhythm and lead.
When you see the drum notes come by on screen, medium or hard will only show half the notes, but you'll be hearing every note from the speakers. It will be very hard not to play notes that you hear, when there are no notes on screen to play. I think the bass drum will be the hardest part NOT to play.
I had to read this a few times, don't know how coherent it is, I hope you get my point.

To another drummer (of 2 years), it does!
Note for note expert drum charts? Well its gonna kick my ass. Hard mode will be ok for learning songs that i havent heard too much. Nothin wrong with learning how to read better though, so why not!
