I've been so focused on RB2 news that I failed to look at the GHWT set list until now. I am now coming to the realization that I may have to buy GHWT as well as RB2 (Tool, Jimi, Lenny, Dammit, Doors, Sublime, NOFX, the new Metallica, even Flo Rida). I didn't really want two games, and I hope GHWT will allow the add-on cymbals for the RB2 drum set to function as "the 5th pad", but something tells me it won't.
Even with the 150 songs I currently have for RB, make that over 200 when I pick up RB2... I know my friends are still going to want the GHWT disk in the 360 more than the RB2 disk (which already bums me out, cause RB was out first, and I have SO much DLC). And on top of that, if I find out that the GHWT drum set is better overall, I probably won't be able to return the RB2 drum set in exchange for the GHWT set (since it will be over 30 days). Hmmm, time to look around at the return policies and figure how best to plan this....
Dammit, there goes another $60

You know, funny thing is, you don't have to have every song for every band simulator game. Just look at world tour like more DLC you can buy (assuming you're not at all going to touch the music creator). Are those songs really worth $60? I mean, as is now, you already have so many songs for rock band, they're only releasing more so they're bound to get at least one week of DLC right before GHWT comes out (even though that hasn't been proven for the last 7 weeks or so), but Rockband offers more music as of now... I say save your monies till later, once you and your friends get burned out in RB2...

Since it will be compatible with RB instuments, there is NO reason to not buy it.
$60 is pocket change.

If I do get it...and that's a very big "if", I'll get a used copy. Activision will never see a dime of my money ever again.

What you can do is hit up your band members for $15 each.
My band always pays their share, and usually more, since I have the "studio".

And on top of that, if I find out that the GHWT drum set is better overall,
because they've been out for sooo long we all have accurate quality comparisons. /sarcasm
actually every "live" performance of those drums has been plagued with broken cymbals and other flaws. So far i have not read one glowing report about the quality of those drums in any live/demo performance. so how you know they are "better overall" is beyond me.

That is great idea.
I too am still pissed off at them, I think that is the route I will go as well, even if it only saves me $5.

after getting my copy of RB2, i realize i wont be playing much else for a while. . . SO i had a pre-order of GHWT. I cancelled it and put it toward a pre-order of fallout 3. I figure ill play RB2 a while then IF (big IF) i want to try something new ill grab GHWT used.

pocket change or not, for me, comes down to value.
looking at their set list, there are only 10 songs which aren't available on the RB platform (yet, could change with DLC), and that i jumped and said 'damn, i want that'.
so.........for me, that means i'm going to spend about $6 per song i want?
no thanks. don't like the songs that much

Thanks for the info so far... I wasn't yet aware of the reports or reviews for GHWT drum sets. I do anticipate more sturdy drums from RB2 (just by having so many RB1 drums/pedals returned in the past year), so that's a good thing.
Lots of tracks listed on the RB2 set list were unknown to me, so I d/l the set and have been listening to it for a good month now. But just glancing through the GHWT set list, and growing up more in the "later punk rock" and alt-rock era, it looks like GHWT's song list is a better fit for my friends and I, and THAT is what bums me out (that it's not RB2's set list instead). For instance, Blink 182's Dammit is a nice little piece that would actually get me to head bang while drumming. Some of the other tracks, just because I know them better, I could really get into (energy-wise), as could my friends. And I'm surprised they are going to have some Jimi Hendrix while RB (with the large selection that it has) does not have Jimi. This last one is still mind-boggling to me.
Needless to say, I'm going to have to start cutting back on RB DLC (just sticking with the good ones) so I can get GHWT and whatever good DLC they might have to offer. Buying it used is a great idea. And no, not interested in the composer.
The point, ultimately, for me is that I'm totally bummed because I already know that my group of friends (here in San Diego) will rather have the 50+ songs from GHWT in the 360 than the 200+ songs from RB/RB2 in the 360.

LOL...don't hold your breath...I'm kidding...sorta.
I hope for the sake of GH:WT buyers that Activision delivers on their promise. I have my doubts given their reputation.

Also, how much will I dislike unlocking any songs that I want? If I have to play the Linkin Park songs to get to the good ones, it has lost some of its luster.
For me, though, the deciding factor for my purchase is still if the EULA on the music creator is good or not. If I maintain the rights to any songs I upload, then I'm totally up for putting some music in the song creator. Otherwise, hell no.

I personally don't mind Activision continuing their crappy DLC track record and making Rock Band 2 look like the better option. I mean, it took months before Guitar Hero got something I was even interested in looking at (Soothsayer) while I've averaged at least two purchases a week for Rock Band...
The promise of continually putting out more music has me not even considering Guitar Hero.

I'm guessing you're one of the people who enjoyed the feature in "Alone In The Dark" where you can skip around the story mode to get to further parts of the game
