will DLC be available day one?

I don't know about day one, but it will be available within the first week of the game's release.

Metallica is available the same week of the game release. Not sure of the exact day though.

The PSN is updating the day the game comes out (they usually update on Thursday, but Thursday is Thanksgiving, so they're doing it early), and XBLM updates on Wednesdays, so there should be DLC within the first two days of release, depending on what system you're getting it for.

MS usually posts their waves of XBL content on a wednesday... so it's possible something might appear Day 2 (if not already arranged for Day 1)

PS3 I can't speak to, but I'm sure they're going to try and time things to be as similar as is reasonably possible.

i'm going to take a wild guess and say that all of the week 1 DLC will be put on the marketplace on Friday the 23rd.

the mtallica pack should be up tuesday. PSN updates this tuesday and MS updates XBL regularly trhoughout the week the only constant is that tehre's usually a XBLA release on wensday along with a demo or two.
