So there's a number of other threads on the possible problems with the GH3 guitar. What if that turns out to be true and the PS3 Les Paul DOESN'T work? What are our other options? Do we even HAVE any other options? Third party controls? PS2 guitars?

Basically, most of us have already gathered our virtual band, it would be pretty bad if half of us have to wait until february to be able to have a bass player. So what are we to do about it?

Sorry to hear this but im so glad i have a 360.

It seems recently the PS3 is overlooked in alot of areas compared to the 360 when they makes games for both platforms. I still dont even see why someone would pay $$ for a PS3 right now...

Anyways, hopefully they can fix the issue becasue Rockband deserves to work on all consoles, spread the love!! :)

Well, since you mentioned that you probably have your virtual band collected, that means that all don't have to be in the same location to play, correct?

Why not go online, someone play guitar in one place, and have another play bass at a different location with the Strat controller as well?

Problem solved?

Hey man can we keep these forums about rock band and NOT start a console war? PS3 gets wireless guitars and the game developers are becoming more accustomed to the ps3 when it comes to making games, I mean its only been out for a year. And look at COD4 same game on both systems so...

I know that, that's what this thread is about. This game is severely hampered by a lack of a second guitar, and as we can't get another one separately for quite awhile yet I want to find out if we have any other options. i.e. OTHER guitar controllers that AREN'T the Les Paul, which doesn't work.

And unfortunately my "virtual band" are three of my RL friends. As I'm importing to the UK (and don't want ANOTHER 360 to play RB on) I need to get a ps3 copy (and a ps3 :P) no-one else here that I know will have RB for up to 4 months now so I need other options!

I've heard that you can get some sort of adapter and use a GH2 control, could that work? We just need SOMETHING to last until the fenders are sold separately.

Sounds like pretty limited options unfortunately. This is not unlike what the 360 went through with GH2 right at it's release.

The only options I could fathom given the prediament:

1. Wait a couple months for standalone instruments

2. Have a friend bring over the guitar from his bundle

I can't imagine that Harmonix will let this go unchecked for long, having a game that can't be played properly on one of the major consoles can't be a good thing.

Any kind of official word on this would be amazing.

It's actually quite different, because the 360 release for GH2 didn't have another guitar available for that system already, unlike we do.

I'm still hoping Harmonix will comment on this.

They really need to, if theres no way I can get a working bass until the standalone instruments come out then I am going to have to change what I am going to buy. If they wait until the 20th then I may not even get a copy.

This has been a fun week for those of us importing. :)

We just need to keep talking about this issue so Harmonix realizes how important this is.

You can bet that Harmonix is already on it. There is no discounting the seriousness of this issue.

Don't worry. They know. Sean and John are good at keeping a finger on the pulse of this community, and they've responded to requests/feedback a few times already in the development process. If it's feasible for them to do, they'll do it.

It'll be interesting if Harmonix does release a patch for the PS3 to bring in compatibility for the Les Paul. At that point, the ball will be in Activision/RO's court as to how they handle things. They could either do good for the greater guitar-game community and patch GH3 so the Strat works, or they could show themselves as purely capitalists and not do anything. My money's on the second one.

I agree. Have you read the disclaimer when GH3 loads? Some tripe about how youre only authorized or licensed to use official controllers or something like that. In other words I think they are trying to say that by buying the game you agree to not use 3rd party controllers with it even if it were possible. When I first saw that my reaction was (///_.) <---dramatic palm to the forehead
