Rock band DLC "Not playing"

Ok, I've had my copy of Rock band for the ps3 preordered for months now "its only just been released in UK on ps3 o.O" Anyway. I got it home, played a few songs all was fine, then I downloaded and installed aesthetics of hate. I tried loading the song and as far as I know it didn't get past the loading screen for 5+ minuetes. I thought this was odd so I deleted the DLC data and downloaded it again from the PSstore. The same thing happened.

I've also downloaded 3 other songs with this problem, Clouds over california, life is beautiful and sleepwalker.
I've also downloaded working DLC, Afterlife, Inside the fire, Thrasher and the free DLCs.

I'm just confused as to why some are working and some are not, reinstalled all about 3-4 times and nothing has changed at all. I'm only worried because they are paid for now and I don't want to loose out. Any help is welcome.

PS. I've also noticed that the songs that don't work don't play a preview when you highlight them if thats any help.

ok i've just added some more DLC, Ride the lightning, The kill, Blinded by fear, Running wild, critical accliam and constant motion.
Running wild AND constant motion DO NOT WORK! i've also noticed that those two songs + Aesthetics of hate, Clouds over california and sleepwalker are all part of the Roadrunner pack. Is anyone else getting the same problem or know how to fix it at all. help much appreciated.

It's happened to me a few times as well. I bought it today, downloaded a few tracks and it seems that the only ones that won't work for me are Toxicity and BYOB, both by System of a Down. I also started the Battle of the Vans set in the multiplayer career mode and that also crashed, so I don't think the problem just lies with the DLC, although I could be wrong.

Same happening to me. I just bought BYOB and Toxicity and they both stay on the loading screen. Not sure about the others i bought yet. I was able to do battle of the vans though.

picked up my UK PS3 copy this morning and exactly the same problem.

Working man by RUSH works ok

Police pack - none of these songs load.

Even if you hover over the song in the song list, nothing happens (unlike other songs when you get a short preview).

Is this the official site for Harmonix tech support or do they have an email address? I guess this could be a europe-wide PS3 problem!

I also have this problem, I've noticed that it only happens to dlc that was released AFTER the Who Pack, as all the dlc released before (including The Who) has worked. I'm not sure if The Who pack is the last dlc that works, but it is for me.

I haven't connected Rock Band to the internet yet and I assumed it was related to it not being patched, but now reading this thread makes me think otherwise, unless everyone else in this thread hasn't patched rock band yet? (if there is a patch that is, i dont know)

I'm having the same issue, plus another that no one else seems to have mentioned.

I've downloaded 6 tracks - 3 of which work (Blinded by Fear, Last and War Pigs) and the other 3 (Aesthetics of Hate, Sleepwalker and one more I can't remember right now) have the same problem mentioned before (won't load, no audio clip preview from song selection screen)

Also, as soon as I got the game, it said Perfect Drug by NIN had been purchased - it hadn't and then wouldn't let me do so. I checked again this morning and there were a few more that had apparently been purchased that I hadn't.

I'm having same problem but I have a few questions as well.

I downloaded the free track "Promise Land". The file is 31mb and after installing it and accesing it through the game I also get frozen on the loading screen.

I checked my saved data and game data folders and the file is nowhere to be seen. Where is this saved to? I have game data of 38mb that hasn't been updated since the first time I put in the disk and the save data file is only 6mb.

Also in regard to the songs it says we've downloaded that we haven't, its NIN - Perfect Drug, Die Alright - The Hives and Buddy Holly - Weezer. Would have been nice if they added these to our setlist seeing as we've been waiting for a UK release since last November but the option to redownload doesn't work.

Yep, same problem here. The Roadrunner pack doesn't work (no audio preview, and game just freezes when trying to load the song) and also the two S.O.A.D songs Toxicity and BYOB don't work either. Glad to know it's not just me and good to see the guys are on it already.

The US store appears to be affected too. I'm in the UK & have the PS3 US game running on my US account. When I go to the US store the Roadrunner pack shows as purchased even though I've never purchased any songs & don't have a credit card linked to my account!

Also the free Still Alive track downloads & installs, but brings up an error message when you select it from the setlist, and dumps you back to the menu screen.

Oh dear, what I can't fathom is are HMX having internet problems or not? as some other poster on the forums implies that HMXSean is not a HMX dev guy or at the least posts incorrect information ( in their words fake HMXSean ) and HMXSean posted in this thread that they ( HMX ) are having internet blackouts ( never heard of these before ). So I hope that whoever is a real dev guy ( also had HMXAlex post in here acknowledging the issue ), that we get some answers soon.

Who knows, on a previous page ( 1st or 2nd as I recall, the devs have replied that they are aware of the problem and are looking into it. We might have to be patient though as one of the dev guys said in his post that they are having internet blackouts at Harmonix and also their working day hours would be be approximately between 2pm to 11pm UK time ( assuming they work a nomal 8/9 am to 4/5 pm start/finish time).

So lets hope we see a solution to this and the PS3 GH3 controller issue ( patched in US but not in EU/UK ) or at least hear something on the announcements section by the end of today.

Your lucky Malky, as I'm waiting on the GH3 patch because I'm not prepared to pay £60 for the RB guitar especially as sequels are coming out for GH & RB ( RB2 is already out in North America for the 360 ). I also accidentally deleted the game save data and after going back into the game it now says " purchased " on all of the Pixies tracks, which it didn't before and even after deleting that file again and the game data file, it doesn't make any difference.

The devs have responded to the controller patch issue in the thread titled " Petition for info on PS3 patch " and there is a sticky for this in the Announcements section of the forums I posted in the aforementioned patch thread asking the developer guy about the DLC problem, so lets hope there's a fix/response soon.

I had about 6 tracks already on my store too when I first logged on to the RB shop, think one of them was Last Train to Clarkesville but they aint in the game.

From experience, the GH controller is no use on RB because of the long time it takes to alternate strum, unless your GH guitar was a better one than mine. There's a crapload of songs on RB that require fast strumming that downstrokes just wont cut... very annoying lol.

Yeah well I'll have to try and get buy with it for a while unless I find a RB one cheap somewhere as the new guitar sounds great according to reports on the forums and also Mad Catz are making instruments for RB which are a bit less expensive.

Aye third party guitars will probably be around the £35 range I imagine. Mad Catz peripherals are tough as adamantine too, I've still got a PS1 MC steering wheel from 1995 that works lol.

I remembered the code and decided to give it ago just now, but instead of typing it in just as was shown on the game screen (i.e. all capitals) I typed the code in using all lower case and it's now just linked my game to the website. So either it's started working and it's case insensitive, or it was working the whole time and was case sensitive (which makes you wonder why it came up as all capitals in the game).

Edit: Ok, these two links show that the former is true and that whatever the problem was with linking accounts has been fixed.

Which version and region of the game are you using? For PS3:

Your DLC must be bought from the store that matches the region of your game disc.

You must install the songs once you've downloaded them (they appear as capsule-like icons in the Games section of the XMB - select them to install).

Once you've got them into the game you can find them in various places. On the solo tour, they're in Tokyo - scroll down to the bottom of the list of available songs and select the option to play DLC.

Yes, if you've got the US version of the game it needs US DLC. Unfortunately Sony recently closed off the best way of getting access to the US store from the UK (pre-paid credit cards from EntroPay) and you can't pay with UK credit cards on the US store.

The easiest option is to buy a UK copy of the game, but you'll lose any save data (I believe) and it's not exactly cheap.

There's an international FAQ thread in the Community's Greatest Hits section of the board that might have more information on other ways to buy US content without a card.

Ok so if any xbox owners are interested (although may be i'm the last person to find out about this) I've got the new Megadeth pack working by just being connected to xbox live - which is a slight pain as I have to run a 10 metre cable through the house - but at least it works. I have downloaded a good majority of the songs on XBLive, I have around 200 total songs now. Out of all of them the only ones that don't work are Limelight(Rush), Roxanne(The Police), and all of the new songs this week from the 5 song pack 2008 Rock Band Tour and the Megadeath album "Peace Sells". The rest of my songs work, just not those. Looking forward to a response.

They fixed the PS3 EU RB1 DLC problem!!!

System updated my PS3, then entered rock band and it updated the game to v1.01 (12MB download).

Just played through the roadrunner pack, some damn hard songs in there :D

PS. Can anyone with a PS3 GH3 Les Paul hook it up to their RB1 and see if the patch fixed the incompatibility too?

Today I have updated my system. I bought my RB on ebay (UK), I don't know if the seller got it from the US. How do I know if it's an EU or an US-edition?! I also bought some tracks from PSN, downloaded and installed them! Some of them are the tracks that are supposed to work! When I'm inside the game, I can't find the tracks anywhere.... Why is that? It looks like you have the USA version those songs should show up in either

Quick play the essayist way to test or solo tour and play in japan which allows download songs

im sorry to here this m8 ebayers are like those guys hanging around outsite gigs selling you "medium" t shirts but its really a girls extra small

ebayers love to say they have the PAL version of the game when they really are USA.

a tip on spotting this is the rating system on your rockband box it should have a BBFC rating of 12 on the usa it will have a white and black square saying teen

yeah i bought rb in us and bought some dlc when it came out over here and they didnt work but i bought the uk version and it works with the dlc and all the instruments from us one work.

Im having this problem with 90% of my DLC... Thing is, some songs ARENT there, and most of them ARE there.... The ones that work, will play a preview. If they dont play the preview, they dont work.... I hope they fix this soon... Ive got all the song packs and most of the individual songs... You guys are asking what works and what doesn't? For me, only about 3 songs work.... My Metallica Pack, Roadrunner Pack, Police Pack, Who Pack, DO NOT work. The only songs that DO work for me, are BYOB, Working Man, and Buddy Holly. THATS it. Im getting frustrated!!

I recently bought the DLC of Megadeth Peace Sells for PS3. It seems to have downloaded fine, but when I try to play it, it freezes on the song screen and there is no preview of the song when hi lighted. I've noticed people having the same problems on here, but have not seen a solution posted. I have downloaded at least 15 other songs in the past and they all work great. Is there a fix out here for this? And the question remains......will I be refunded or will I have to pay again to get this DLC.

I just bought the Blood Sugar Sex Magik pack for the xbox360 EU version. None of the songs work. Same issue no preview on the tunes, endless load when tryng to play them. I tried deleting and downloading the pack many times. This is also the first pack that doesnt work for me.

I've been reading some posts and there is just one thing I can figure out - how to see the new songs. I bought a whole bunch and I can find any of them in the game. The songs are downloaded and installed - (in sweden on an US PS3 with US imported game). Is this more or less the same problems as others have, as I understand it some ppl have problems with just starting the songs... well I just can't find em. Someone enlighten me plz.

Which version and region of the game are you using? For PS3:

Your DLC must be bought from the store that matches the region of your game disc.

You must install the songs once you've downloaded them (they appear as capsule-like icons in the Games section of the XMB - select them to install).

Once you've got them into the game you can find them in various places. On the solo tour, they're in Tokyo - scroll down to the bottom of the list of available songs and select the option to play DLC.

Yes I have done all that and the DLC still does not work for me. Only Rio by Duran Duran works. Pretty Fly by Offspring doesnt even show up, and Bathwater and Dont Speak by No Doubt do show up but dont have a preview and when I do select them, I see the loading screen and thats it. Im in the US and I have a US version of the game.

ac/dc code used to dl the giant pack of songs. downloaded and installed fine. none of the songs show up in rb1 or rb2's setlists.

have had troubles with corrupt downloads causing load hangs before, that was solved with the simple, delete and redownload method.

but this is a new bug for me. is there something i'm missing to get these songs to show up?

first off, please notice there wasn't a relevent thread that was newer. i wanted to specifically reply to this thread because i specifically have read this thread and tried the solutions mentioned therein. secondly the thread had last had a post 6 days before my post. i would welcome any thoughts you have that have not already been brought up in the thread.

now, more details that may help:

us rockband2 disc, us rockband store download, us psn account. ac/dc songs do not show up in the track list.

various other combinations of us/australia/asia all with no luck for the ac/dc songs being visible on the track list.

however, i have oz psn dl's working fine with my us rb2 disc and us and oz psn account downloads working fine with my asia rb disc indiscriminantly of which i am logged onto when playing. the only dl'd songs which do not show up in both games are the ac/dc songs downloaded via the code from the ac/dc live book. the ac/dc live book was an oz purchase. yet the code worked fine from the us store.

the game does not hang on load, indicating it is not a corrupt data error. i search the game files on my ps3 and find one very large file which i assume is the song data, and the various patch downloads.

i am therefore at a loss as to the cause of the error and the means to fix it.
