If you haven't seen it yet, IGN had a review last evening for Rock Band, great as you would expect. It got a 10.0 in presentation. There was one criticism. They felt that the Rock Band guitar was inferior to the previous products, both on the I and II side, and even the III side by different vendor. I have read that this is the case, but can anyone confirm for me whether or not the previous Xplorer guitars will work for Rock Band? I know that they don't have the additional buttons, but if the guitar proves to not be so good, I am wondering if many may be stepping back to the previous guitars. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I played hands on at Best Buy with a decently built RB guitar and I loved it. Just the right weight. Don't see what all the hate is for.

The GH2 XPlorer 100% definitely works in Rock Band. If you watch the OXM endless setlist video from yesterday, you can see that they actually use that guitar. (This applies to the 360, at least).
Personally I liked the RB guitar when I tried it though.

the IGN people are terrible at guitarhero/rockband as it is so I wouldn't take their word, I personally played on a strat with broken downstrum but even upstrumming i still LOVED the feel of the new guitar, the buttons just feel so right and the solo buttons are so much fun.

In comparison to the X-Plorer, there's just no comparison. I never liked that controller to begin with. It will be hard to part with my custom XG controller that I made, but the Strat just feels so good.
I think I'm going to have to dedicate a wall in my house to hanging my plastic guitars. I'm up to 5, the Strat will make 6.

I don't care how it feels, I'll force myself to adapt.
I want to feel like a faux-rock star, and it's really hard to do that with something that feels (and especially looks) like a Fisher Price toy.
