First off, do not turn this into a console war.
I am a proud PS3 owner and now that Microsoft has dropped the price of X Box 360's I have been considering picking one up. There are games I am interested in on the X Box 360, such as Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect. I also would like to play with the X Box 360 users on the forums too.
By the way, I do own Rock Band for PS3 and plan on purchasing Rock Band 2 for PS3. So this has nothing to do with the month of exclusivity.

If you can afford it and there are enough games you're interested in, then yeah, why not? :)

Yes this. I bought the 360 at launch, ( still no RROD either ). and have been very happy with it since
Mass Effect, wow i cannot say enough about that game, sucked me in and i was hooked for three mounths, antil RB came out and the i have only taken RB out of my console twice, once to play Mass effect again, and ( BLASPHIMY) to try guitar hero 3, wich was quickly replaced with RB again, soon to be replace with RB2 this weekend.

I love my PS3 and I already have almost all the DLC for Rock Band. So if I do purchase an X Box 360, it will be for the games mentioned.

^ He's got to much invested in RB DLC to get RB2 for the 360, by all accounts it would be a bad choice not to wait a month for it.

If you already have a PS3, I don't really see it as a wise investment as almost all of the 360's good games are also on either PC or PS3. There are a handful of exclusives, but you may as well pick up Mass Effect and Gears of War on PC instead.

As someone who had a 360 first, I have the exact opposite viewpoint. Nothing exclusive to the PS3 makes it worth spending over $400 for me. However, this is mainly a matter of the pricetag. Until this generation of consoles I had owned every major platform going back to the 16-bit era(with the regretful exception of the PC Engine/Turbografx), since gaming is about the games and not what piece of plastic and microchips they are running on.
Down the road I am sure that at some point or other PS3 will have a handful of games I need to own(this threat loomed already when SH5 was announced first as a PS3 title)and getting one will be justifiable for me.

I wasn't attempting to justify the purchase of his (or my) PS3, but since he already owns it, it doesn't make sense to me to buy a 360 now given that he already has access to a majority of its games. I wasn't attempting to bash on the 360 or promote the PS3, just commenting that once you own a PS3 and a computer, there aren't many 360 exclusives left. Especially given that the ones he listed are also on PC.

I wasn't casting a purchase of a PS3 in a negative light, but since he had an interest in snagging a 360 in the first place I assumed it was because he wanted to expand his library.
This led me to think that he may not game on his PC, which many people no longer do. If you had the bucks to keep an up-to-date PC running the upper end games than another $200 for a 360 would be pebbles in the lake anyway.
Get the 360.

Buying one now would feed the greed of Microsoft so they feel that it works when they bribe developers to release the games early on the xbox.
Show some loyalty and stand your ground against the evil green empire!

Not to start a console war or anything, but the majority of the people I have played with online (Playstation) are jerks. While I have met tons of cool people on live.
@ Julio.
Didnt they change the price for the 360? Just buy a new one. It's only 199.

Really? I've had the complete opposite impression. Most of the people on XBL are either 12 or douchebag frat boys who curse at everyone who doesn't have a 3:1 KDR from my experience. On PSN most people tend to be fine, with the exception of a few (as any online community).
Ultimately, it probably is going to end up with what game you're playing I guess.

Bill, sorry that this led to some console bickering(which I helped contribute to). Even though it is by far one of the more civilized discussions between consoles, its not really what you were asking about initially. Going by poll results, it would seem the census agrees that a 360 would be a decent investment, but Mystlife's input leads me to ask you, do you game on your PC? This would affect my recommendation.

Yes, the 360 is good as long as its in a well ventilated area or else it will get the RoD or overheat...

Buy it if you want it.
Gears of War is a great game. So is Mass Effect,
It would be an honor to join you in a round of combat in Gears of War (or Gears of War 2). :)

Just get an Xbox and buy RB2 now, and you can also buy RB2 for PS3 when it comes out.
It's only $60 more :) That way you can play with everyone. Best of both worlds.

Hmm...seem to forget to mention the fact that only a USED 360 would to that to him, NEW consoles have been fixed so it's harder to RROD.
I'm all kinds of bias, but I say yeah. Better online quality, and more games.
(And RB2...lol, but you aren't getting it for 360 you said)

Working for a parent (if you own a restaurant, warehouse, etc.), bagging groceries, mowing lawns, fun stuff!

I don't think I can work at a prison or ER.
You have to be 16 to get a real job at a real place of work anyway.

Ah, well... Can't work for a parent or anything like that and I can't work at a store because I believe I have to be 16 to have an actual job here in the Nanny State.

Second, the only game I play on the PC is World of Warcraft, and that is very little.

I am going to agree with what the general consensus of people are saying. 360s are dirt cheap now. If you're not planning to be playing on the PC, then you should buy one for the exclusives. If you ARE big into the PC gaming, then I don't really see the point of doing so.

Absolutly not. After what just happend I'm pretty sure I'm about to be on my 6th. Was doing vocals on Shooting Star, the screen went black and the middle power light was flashing wich seemed to be another tray related problems that I've been having tons of lately. This thing is nothing but a hassle so I can't reccomend it. It's placed between my Xbox 1 and PS3 that I've never had problems with so it has nothing to do with care or placement.
