A little help with a confusing decision.

You've probably seen me talking about importing Rock Band into the UK in a few other threads, while I am still definitely going to be getting rock band now I need a little bit of help.

As it stands now, I have a PAL xbox 360 which cannot run Rock Band as it is region locked. I do not have a PS3. In order to import and play rock band I am also going to have to buy a US console to play it on.

My first thought was to buy a ps3 to play it on and that way I would have a new console to play other ps3 exclusive games on rather than buy a console which is useless to me for anything other than to play rock band.

Now that I have heard word of the PS3 GHIII control not working with Rock Band, but working with RB on the 360 I have a significant reason to rethink this. I am buying Rock Band to play with three of my friends and we have been planning this since we heard about the game, it seems that now I have no chance to get a guitar to use as a bass on the ps3 until some time next year when they sell them as stand alone, leaving one of my friends left out entirely and somewhat ruining the rock band experience.

So my options are as follows:

PS3 Rock Band and a US PS3:
Pros:
A new, region free console to open up a handful of playstation exclusive games that I can't play at the moment.
More useful in the long run.

Cons:
Possibly no Bass control until next year.
More expensive.

Xbox 360 Rock Band and a US 360:
Pros:
The full rock band experience.
Significantly cheaper.

Cons:
The console will be of no use to me other than to play rock band. And when the EU version of rock band is released I would no longer need it at all.

What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Yeah I'd say go for the PS3, you say the 360 is considerably cheaper, but seeing that you're buying the US 360 solely to play one game, I'd say it works out more expensive when you think about it. I'm holding out hope that it was just that one poster whose controller was faulty or something and that the LEs Paul will work with the PS3 RB.

Agreed, I was leaning towards the ps3 still anyway. I'm just concerned that if it doesn't work then I'm going to have one pissed off bass player to deal with until next year!

Looks like I'll be going with the ps3 and crossing my fingers, I'm getting GH3 anyway as I do actually want to give it a go (more guitar songs can't hurt) so I'll have the Les Paul no matter what happens, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I can't actually believe that no-one else has come forward to say "My LP doesn't work either!" or vice versa... Hopefully this is a one off case.
