In single-player career mode can I still do everything like create a charater, name my Band, it's location and logo just like band world tour mode lets you?

Some of that.

Creating a character, yes.

No band name, no band logo, and the other three characters are always random generics the game makes for you.

After that, you do the GH thing of going tier by tier, with each tier in a new city, until you're done. There's no managers, no decision making, no setlists.

No. On stages where the band name appears in lights, the name of your character appears instead. There is no band logo or band name in solo mode.

that is seriously stupid. the only way you can have a band name is in BWT. whats up with that!

Looks like you need to find a friend to play with...

HMX's focus was mainly on BWT, licensing for music, DLC, and online play.

I would have liked Solo Mode to be similar to BWT, but it's still no bummer. It's not like it's anything less than the GH's.

Thanks for the info. Since I will mainly be playing by myself I'm wondering if GH3 would offer the better single-player experiance or would RockBand?

Well, there is always Singing & playing guitar at the same time... WaffleZone was doing both on Expert the other day & making it look easy. *laugh*

Well.. yes and no.

Experience is all subjective. If all you care about is the guitar, then yes, GH3's absolutely focused single player guitar experience is the way to go.

But with Rock Band, you get the GH experience on three different instruments, which is a huge plus, right there. And, if you're coordinated enough, you can BWT with vocals plus an instrument.

This is definitely a gap in RB's gameplay, and one I hope will be amended in the future. A patch for online BWT will go a long way, there. But if a 170 dollar single player game is to your tastes entirely depends on what your tastes are craving.
