Overall, the writer seems to like the album a lot. But he criticizes the note charts for accuracy sometimes. I've never actually seen the mainstream gaming media really comment on the note charts before. Not sure if he's playing on Expert, but I have to assume so from that fact that he claims a few notes are wrongly charted.

It's so tempting to buy this! I know I'll only play the songs once, though.
Must. Refrain...

ign sucks, and the fact that he said the album was good says this persons views are meaningless.
IT'S CALLED OPINION.
Respect them. It's a good album. Stop trying to please the whiners.

I wouldn't mind him... he tends to criticize quite a bit, and almost never backs up his opinion.

how would you like me to back up my opinion, hmmm? I watched that preview trailer for the album, and it was awful. the singer was bad and genric. drums were as basic as they come. guitar was the same old metallica, it all sounds the same to me. cant hear the bass. so enlighten me as to why this is a good album.
Well, first of all, it's hard to have an opinion of an album when you don't even listen to it, outside of a couple of seconds. I might as well judge 2112 by the 30 second sample on itunes.

Sounds like St Anger 2 to me, which was too rough to wipe my *** with so it wasnt even worth that.

It's wildly different than St. Anger.

It's a step in the right direction at least. They seem to be at least shooting for their old style of writing music. A few of the songs aren't bad....definitely better than St. Anger. I will say this though.....Lars needs to stop using a damn coffee can for a snare drum!!

Hmmm, I thought the snare sounded much better on this album...especially compared to St. Anger.
I'm gonna have to give the old **** a quick listen to see if the snare sounds different from those.

if you dont like 30 seconds of 2112, your not going to like the rest of it.
...
The song is over 20 minutes long, you know... And it has 3 or 4 different sounding parts. Maybe more.
