Before you complain, tell me how it would work. How would it all fit onto one screen?

It's really reasonable to have 8 seperate tracks on the screen at once.

They've got leaderboards, isn't that close enough? In Battle of the Band contests, all of the bands don't get up there and switch off playing songs, trying to show which is better. They get rated, and at the end the winner is chose. Leaderboards is sort of the same thing, just you're not really chosen, it's a fact.

Ok... ive got the perfect solution.

You match up with one band and select an arena. So you got two bands goin at it. Somehow they agree on a single song and they choose who goes first. The first band takes the stage and plays the song selected. While they play the other band can spectate and watch the other band play. When the band is done playing they get an overall score for their performance, even if they fail they should get a score from the time they failed. Then the next band takes the stage and plays the song. The band that played before is now in spectator mode. When the 2nd band is done playing they get an overall score. The victor is the band that has the highest score. Wouldnt that be the best thing ever? Hell you could do this with 3 bands and have a battle of the bands, even though theres no way in hell this would happen lol. I guess we can only dream....

But yeah.... thats how they could have done it maybe.

QFT. All you need to do to pull off a RBBOTB is do what you just said, and record the scores on your own. Just like the Scorehero BotB.

Holy crap, I can't believe Harmonix didn't take care of something a simple pen and piece of paper could fix.

I can see it now... 12:15 Tuesday morning, we'll have a whole new BOTB thread, with people picking songs for bands to play & post screenshots of their scores. :D

Lmao obviously you cant put it in the game. But that would kick the **** outta the leaderboards. I mean yay!!! BAND VS BAND ISNT A FEATURE WE NEED AT ALL! HELL LOOK AT THE HUGE LEADER BOARDS ITS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME

It may be very... what is that, anyway? Gatstar? Hopefully it's not the most overused and ignorant three letter insult ever to emerge out of teenage suburbia.

Fortunately, every solution above works considerably better than some sort of crazy eight player mode with massive screen real estate being chewed up by simultaneously displayed drummers, singers, and guitarists.

I never said that everybody would be on the same screen.

The problem is that there is no reason to make a band wait anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes to play just so they have a target score to try to beat. Gamers are impatient, especially online. There is no motivation for a band to sit there and wait for what is essentially a single number that they could either obtain from a leaderboard or any number of other methods.

Im just saying that would be the best battle of the bands simulator... Hell i'd wait for 5 mins and watch someone else perform so that I knew what we were up against. I mean battle of the bands isnt just 5 min long with all the bands going at once, they each gotta share the stage.

Your chances of having a reasonable online experience go as approximately as 1/x, where x is the number of people you have. It's simply not necessary to do it that way when there's a precedent otherwise.

Xbox games have had "meta events" before like Forza 2's tournaments that involve 100 or so competitors, but they don't try to make them play all at once. If a battle of the bands feature was added it'd go like this:

1. Online bands enter tournament
2. When enough bands have joined (2,3, whatever) the setlist is distributed to everyone at once
3. When you're done with the set list, the results are uploaded
4. There is cake

As for the talk of leaderboards, I can only express puzzlement. Leader boards are the most completely useless feature that Xbox 360 has to offer. They show the top 5 people on the globe generally and their absolutely alien scores and then show that you're 172,486th out of 324,920. If I ever get anything meaningful out of an Xbox leaderboard, I will be genuinely surprised.

I was a little surprised by this too.

Granted, I have no idea how it could conceivably work, but a Battle Of The Bands mode seems ideal for this game. Seeing as how "Band" is in the title of the game, and "Battle" is essentially the basis for all video games.

But who knows what the future may bring.

I think that it would be better if you could create your own leaderboards. This would meet both sides of the argument about "band versus band" right in the middle. For online, maybe you could name them? This would obviously have to be included in a patch of some sort (if the idea goes through!) and would be perfect for those online-forumers that want to host a band vs. band with bands on their forum. The only problem that I can see for this is that not enough bands join a leaderboard and it ends up hosting just one name. Contrary to that, however, if it just hosted one name you could be able to allow players to view it and see your high score?

How 'bout it?

welll you could have it with two bands one song one venue and one difficulty so lets say everyone choses expect then just the 4 things are on screen, and the drummers play the drums at the same time and the same with the others then at the end who ever wins wins.

you could just have your opponents score in the top left corner. you dont need 8 bars its not like your watching the other team while you play.

I think they should do it. The best way to make it work is so that you only see what your band is doing, except at the end it shows how both bands did. During the song there would be a meter saying which band is winning.

I'd think this wouldn't be too hard to implement. Sure you could go through a forum and do the same thing, but that isn't nearly as easy or convenient.

I don't see why this wasn't implemented. I kind of expected it to be.

or you can have band vs band and a meter showing whos in the lead score wise and the video cycling showing players that are in the lead. to tell individual players where they stand.
