So i've been playing rock band after work for a couple of weeks now and I can't figure out how to use the energy to go into overdrive (with the guitar) or save bandmates when they do poorly. I've read the tutorials and the instructions that say to just turn the guitar neck up, but that doesn't work. I guess I could be turning it up incorrectly but it seems like that is a pretty simple task. I got a new guitar from EA because I thought the one I had was broken since I could not get it to go into overdrive or save bandmates when I turned it up.

I got the first guitar to work a few times by shaking it around and a friend got it to save someone also, but besides those exceptions it really didn't work reliably. So now I have the second guitar and I have gotten it to work twice during a big rock finish when i wasn't trying to get it to work, but i can't get it to work normally at all.

Is there a trick to getting this thing to work?
Is there a "special" way to "turn up" the guitar?
Could I have received two "partially working" guitars?

Any advice is greatly appretiated.

point the guitar straight up. so that the strum is at the bottom and the buttons are at the top. if that doesnt work than it needs to be fixed at harmonix

Or say I have the same problem. Tip as soon as you get overdrive & it should work.
