I wanted to buy a mic stand for this game and was wondering if any mic stand would work?

The RB branded mic is a standard microphone part and will work with most, if not all, general-use stands out there.

I don't really feel the need to buy one personally, only thing I'm concidering buying is a drum throne, or I can just use a computer chair that has no arms and I can take the back off of it and it should work just as well..

I vote most efficient thread ever :D. I'll wait for the RB stand, too lazy to go to a store and say I'm buying so I can sing whilst rocking out on my plastic guitar haha.

I need to buy a throne too. The best thing I have is a broken computer chair with no back. Kept it just for RB. :D

I'm just using my new couch for drumming, is there a problem with that?

I bought a stand through Amazon but it completely SUCKS. No height adjustment, too short, no place to hold mic. Its simply a short pole, a base, and some screws. Needless to say Ill be buying another one Tuesday. As for the drums, Im using an old, backless computer chair and will be taking the arms off :D.

Note for those of you who might be buying mic stands (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/OnStage-Stands-Tripod-Mic-Stand-with-Boom?sku=452061) and mic clips in separate pieces - the Rock Band mic, like the old Logitech USB mics before it, is 30mm wide. Make sure you buy a clip that will fit that size (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/OnStage-Stands-MY330-Wireless-Shockmount-Mic-Clip?sku=452078).
I ended up buying this clip (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ProLine-Rubber-Microphone-Clip?sku=279102), which is a really tight fit for 30mm mics. If you're looking to be able to easily mount and remove the mic, should you start rocking in that fashion, avoid it as it grips too tightly.

Thanks for that.. I was wondering about the clip sizes.

If anyone in Australia is using the current issue Logitech Vantage USB mic with a stand, can you confirm the mic clip size should be 30mm for the best comfortable fit? i.e. not too tight so it can't be taken off in a quick rock move. I just got an Ashton boom mic stand from Allans music and they threw in a 22m clip cos I didn't know any better..
Cheers

I don't have one myself, but i guess, if the mic size is 30 mm, at least 32 mm is necessary to have a quick to take off mic =D
Harmonix needs to sell their own mic stand.

A word of warning:
If using your couch for drums, dont sit too far back, because after enough rubbing of your leg on the couch, you start to lose the hair on the back of your leg. Lol.

I got this clip (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Musicians-Friend-ClipType-Mic-Holder?sku=276011) for my stand.
I got my stand from one of the local churches for $0. Might want to check that avenue if cash is tight. ;)

If you need a clip, does it need to come from a speciality store or would a place like Best Buy carry though also?
And when you're referring to the Logitech, you mean the Vantage right? Because mine seems shorter and wider than the RB mic, but I can look up the stats.
Lastly, in terms of quality, what's more reliable yet budget-friendly, buying from a chain like Best Buy or Amazon, or ordering the premium stuff from a music company? Ideally, it would have to stand up to being moved a lot and extend to accompany both my 5'4" dimunitive stature to the over 6' size of my dad who likes to sing occasionally.

Buy this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E5T3YK
$20 ($25 after you factor in shipping), comes with a clip that fits anything, has a boom, and is sturdy as heck. Best value by far.

My mic stand it seriously garbage, but it works. I couldn't quite justify dropping 30 bucks on an even half-ways decent one, but I do like to play the voxtar now and then, so I decided to make one from household refuse.
I made out of a wire coathanger and a metal-tube broomstick. If you want to make your own embarrisingly crappy mic stand, just straighten a coathanger, twist one end into a pig's tail curl that is wider at the outside than it is on the inside. Take teh rest of the wire and bend it back and forth so you can cram most of it down the tube, with some coming back up over the side to keep it in place.
Then take what you have and wedge it into a chair, your guitar stand or anything else that will keep it upright.
Bend and twist untill its the right height and angle, then sing and strum away.
Project summary:
Cost: $0
Time to complete: 3 minutes
Difficutly: minimal
Tools: None, or optionally wirecutters if you're mr. fancy
Materials: broom handle (not solid wood), wire coathanger
Notes: minor thumb-slicing hazzard if you don't pay attention when untwisting the coathanger's twisted-together part.

Has anyone tried using one of these to hold a PS3 controller?: Mic Stand Cup Holder (http://www.amazon.com/Swirlygig-Microphone-Stand-Drink-Holder/dp/B0002F75VA/ref=acc_glance_inst_ai_-2_2_img) Might be handy if it fits.

I bought a mic stand off Amazon without clip. I never got around to buying one and just tape the mic to the stand. :D
